Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

The thing is, the money you and I paid into Social Security and Medicare last year was paid out last year. The same thing happened with the money we paid in ten years ago, etc. There is no pile of money sitting in our FICA "accounts" invested for our retirements. If anybody but the govern...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Republicans should repeal them all or admit they're socialists and push single payer for everybody. It's crazy to have "free" or subsidized healthcare for everybody except the people who work and pay taxes. Or should I say, the suckers who work and pay taxes. Say, brother, where do I get ...

Re: Mechanical trustworthiness

Many many years ago my father told me, never trust the mechanical safety on a firearm. They can break, they can jam, just like the bolt can become jammed. You can be ready to take a shot at an animal, be all sighted in and ready to flip the safety off and it's jammed for some reason. By the time yo...

Re: Slow Connection Speed on Remote Computer

WPA2-PSK is not a model number. You don't need an extender for your WiFi, 20 feet is fine. What the issue more than likely is that the WiFi adapter in your wife's computer just won't do more than about 25 Mbps throughput. Once we know your modem model we can determine if it is an 802.11 ac router a...

Re: Slow Connection Speed on Remote Computer

You could get a router, and connect it to the existing modem. Liberty/Keith B: The Time Warner device is a combo modem and router (Arris model WPA2-PSK). Router IS A/C powered. Wife's room is no more than 20 feet away but there are walls. Speed cap is 50mbps and I easily slightly exceed that on my ...

Re: Slow Connection Speed on Remote Computer

Get your own Modem.. Get a good WIFI router.. Turn in the old one and save a little on the monthly bills and get equipment that actually works. What about this combo? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/netgear-docsis-3-0-cable-modem-black/4562300.p?skuId=4562300 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/netgear-ac1200-...

Next to my computer I get 46mbps. Next to my wife's computer I only get 20mbps.

Slow Connection Speed on Remote Computer

I have a Time Warner modem hard wired to my computer. My wife uses her computer just a room or so away with a 802.11b/g/n Wireless WiFi Card, and has very slow connection speeds on the network. I've tried using a USB wireless stick instead, but no help. There are no electronics interfering that I kn...
