Re: TV Viewing

Something about the phrase "clean cut" has always irked me. Sounds like a "holier than thou" attitude to describe a "special" person, so much better, cleaner, and nicer than the rest of us. But if I'm not mistaken, Ted Bundy was described as "clean cut" and so...

Re: You missed one of the great Super Bowl games!

I think the point was there is no actual flag present to which you're supposed to render honors. Probably a matter of interpretation, but here's what the U.S. Code says: United States Code Title 36 §301. National anthem a. Designation. — The composition consisting of the words and music known as th...

Re: Switzerland named No. 1 country to live in

There are quite a few countries that are quite nice to live in. When you don't have to spend a fortune for your own defense and rely on the USA to protect you with their miltary and treasure, of course you can afford to have a nice country.

Re: Free tip about the Flu

Eventually the human race will be just like the aliens in "War of the Worlds" - Toast! The majority inhabitants of this planet, the bacteria and viruses, will kill us all. They become more resistant everyday to antibiotics and vaccines, and there hasn't been a new antibiotic introduced in ...

Re: Hawaii: False alarm on missile strike was Trumps's fault

I entered public school in the late '40's. I remember well the "drills" we had in the '40's and '50's. Obviously what we need to protect us nowadays from nuclear attack is more SCHOOL DESKS!! Put them in every home and public building and they will save you from any harm when you crawl und...

Re: Retirement grows closer

I retired at 66, but if I knew then what I knew now I would have waited until 70. Now, if monthly income from outside sources is no issue, then ignore me. But if it IS important and you rely on SS to provide a substantial portion, then waiting until 70 is almost a 33% increase in monthly benefits ov...

The same people that need the package warning that their food will be "hot" after cooking in the microwave.

Re: Annoying Trends.

How about those ads for some kind of medicine to cure a problem? They then go on to list so MANY side effects, you would probably be just as well off to stick with your original single ailment! One medicine lists "compulsive gambling" as one of your possible freebies! I'm so sick of those...

Re: Your grandfathers 1911 training

Funny, in 1964 as a young sergeant in Korea I was issued a 1911. No training in it's use. Just went to the range, stood sideways left hand on hip as instructed and fired at fixed bullseye targets to "qualify." 95% of the time it stayed in the arms room, except for movements to our alert po...

Re: Anyone Watch "Live PD"?

I enjoy Officer Leverett and his K9 Flex. It's amazing how he gets people to admit their lies in a cool and calm manner. I also enjoy counting how many times officers from all jurisdictions use the phrase "real quick." "Step out of the car, real quick." Come over here, real quick...

Re: Pictures of your "Brown Guns"

I have not catalogued the parts for all 8 of 'mine', but I will for the one that I'm keeping for myself. Yes, I know I SHOULD have gone through all of them to see if I could cross-level the parts to get one as fully homogeneous as possible, but to be honest, I felt responsible to keep them exactly ...

Just put my last M1 Carbine on consignment at my lgs here in Hurst. Quality Hardware was received from the CMP as a barreled receiver that I built up with all Quality Hardware parts (except type II barrel band). Will go on GB if not sold in a few days. Asking $995 firm. Call Mike at Oakwood Arms 817...

Re: D.C.: Al Franken resigns - he made me laugh for the first time.

He didn't resign. He said he "will resign in the coming weeks." My bet is that if Roy Moore wins in AL, Franken will withdraw that statement claiming that he won't go unless Roy Moore goes too. The Dems urged Franken to resign so they could claim the moral high ground by claiming he "...

Re: Another Meme Thread

I am not missing a sense of humor. This thread has "scope crept" multiple times. I didn't come to the TexasCHLForum to see "meme pics" of either political party bashing, or being bashed by, others. I came for firearms-related "stuff". That doesn't sound like I don't ha...
