A Tale of 2 9mm Sub Compacts: Kimber vs. Sig
In my quest for something more substantial power-wise than my Kahr P380 for the summer but almost as diminutive, I fell in love with the feel of the Kimber Solo Carry the first time I got to hold one back in the Spring and got on three waiting lists. Finally bought one about 3 weeks ago, but it was ...

Re: .380 for Sister
I wouldn't be overly concerned about a striker-fired gun in a purse going off accidentally; most have a pretty long trigger stroke. Perhaps more from a dirt/debris consideration (to keep gum wrappers out of the muzzle!), as well as not being easily seen whenever the purse is opened, consider putting...

Re: Whichgun.com
Hey Jersey_emt, I tried posting a comment to your article on which gun to choose for home defense, without success, so I'm dropping it in here. Maybe spark an idea for a good follow on article... I would like to add another critical consideration for "Things to Think About" - your ability ...

Re: What is a good universal hunting rifle?!?
If I were planning to hunt in the whole universe, I would opt for a good ray-gun. Not the kind used in Star Wars (apparently you can't the borad side of a barn with those, judging from the miserable hit/miss ratio), but one more like the little alien guy on Bugs Bunny uses. He never misses. (Oh neve...

Re: Anyone having problems with Winchester ammo recently?
Shooting some USA-branded WW .45 ACP at the range a few weeks ago, and had 2 FTF's, with perfectly fine primer strikes. Re-strikes did nothing. It was unusual enough I mentioned it to the RO who was there. Made me finally wonder "what is the world coming to?" US ammo failing is likely a do...

Re: Looking for a Compact 40Cal
I sometimes carry a USP Compact in 45 in a Minotaur, and it's not what I would call a small, unobtrusive package... (Not much of a size difference between the 40 and 45.) However, it is a full power option with all the wonderful goodness of a HK. (BTW, It's a shame they screwed up the ergonomics of ...

Re: Hammer or Hammerless?
Nice Bob Job. I've never missed the exposed hammer on my Centennial. I would much prefer a smoothed over DA pull vs. cocked revolver for defensive work - it doesn't take much excitement to generate potential for an AD...

Re: My First Shoulder Holster
...I had one good one out of about 5 I tried...Bianchi had an upside-down holster I'd bought for my M60 and it had elastic closure...that and the cut of the trigger guard area held it securely and it was comfy and fast...wish I had it back...not being made by them anymore... Alessi makes an upside-...

Re: My First Shoulder Holster
I got an SS2 rig (also Galco, similar to Jackass; $150) recently for my Kimber 4", and I have to admit I am struggling; it's comfortable enough but it is so sloooow and cumbersome. I'm 5'8"/205 and there is no way this is going to be unnoticable under a sportcoat - It'll take a poofy light...

Re: What causes failure to fire?
I've had a few misfires with Winchester .380 but Monarch was the absolute worst - avg. two per 6 rd. magazine. Firing pin indents seemed OK. Restrikes rarely worked. Wondering if in the rush to fill .380 demand QC slipped a bit.

Re: Walther PPK .380
I had (operative word here) a PPK years ago. It was a weak moment in all of the bidding excitement at a FNRA Dinner. If it weren't for the exposure in all the James Bond movies and getting by on its good looks, it would probably have been discontinued a long time ago. Absolutely the WORST trigger pu...

Re: Should the 380 be discouraged as a CCW ?
No doubt I would like to always have a .45 at my disposal, as I usually do in the cooler months. But as the weather gets warmer, it becomes progessively harder to carry larger guns. (That also means you aren't likely to have to punch through more than a t-shirt layer to hit paydirt.) I have a Kahr P...

Re: Kahr
Quite happy with my Kahr K40 - reliable, accurate, great power-to-size ratio. The Kahr metal lowers seem to have fewer reliability issues reported than the polymer frame guns. I have a PM380 that I like but I wish the frame was metal.

Re: IL: Accidental shooting at gun show injures two
Shame to hear about this - I lived in Bloomington for many years and there is a wonderful population of active shooters in the area. No doubt the repurcussions will be swift from the the Chairman of the Peoples Republic of Illinois. I'll remind my friends there that Texas is still accepting refugees.
