Re: GAO: Study on Attempts to buy guns on internet

GAO = Government Accounting Office, correct? Why are they doing undercover stings related to firearm purchases? If anybody is going to do this, shouldn't it be BATF or maybe some division within the FBI? edit: Oops, never mind. I just opened the report and GAO = Government Accountability Office, not...

Re: 30.06 Ruling Letters

I'm confused. Can somebody clarify where we are on this and what exactly is the status of the lawsuit against the COA? This judge ruled that having a "courtroom", even if set up in the corner of a broom closet, allows the entire building to be posted but only when court is in session? And ...

Re: Austin.....sure it is in Texas?

If you care at all about gun rights - which I assume you do since you're a member of this forum - I cannot imagine how you could support the Democratic party. But to each his own. For the OP, Austin has had a city ordinance prohibiting stores from using plastic bags for a few years now. Maybe 5 or s...

Yes, this is the part that is very appealing to me.

Re: Austin bakery 30.06 story

How is it petty and juvenile? A one star review for rude service is fair. Why isn't a one star review for rude policies? Personally, I hope the NFL and NBA suffer financially for disrespecting the American flag. The First Amendment protects their right to do it without legal repercussions but it do...

Austin bakery 30.06 story

So I very rarely watch the local news here in Austin, but last night happened to flip channels when this story was coming on: http://www.kvue.com/news/local/baguette-et-chocolat-bakery-gun-policy/478172391 Long story short, someone entered a 30.06 posted bakery with a concealed handgun which was not...

Re: California Secession? Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

I would so dearly love to see this happen for a number of reasons. Had Hillary won in November, Texas and many other sane states would be seriously contemplating secession, and nobody really knows how it would all work in this day and age. I'd like to see California go first so we can learn what doe...

July 2 or August 2?

That article is very confusing but it does say the individuals involved knew each other. The areas mentioned are not known for being high crime areas. Not sure what to make of this one.

Re: Largest pro-Second Amendment bill in Iowa history

Someone who follows illegal orders should be held fully responsible for their actions, just like the person issuing the illegal orders. In theory i agree, and in cases where malice is proven Id agree.. But your idea as stated means every person must now be an educated, experienced lawyer with exper...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

And what's worse, constitutional carry is just going to come up again next session and the session after that, and will continue to suck all the air out of the room so that nothing else gets passed. As disappointed that I am that HB560 never even got a shot, I'm even more disappointed - upset, reall...

Re: ACLU Issues Texas ‘Travel Advisory’

I can't believe what I'm reading! The ACLU exists solely to protect the Bill of Rights (yes, that includes the 2nd Amendment), you know, those amendments that protect the individual from the majority. This is the same group that is defending your right to keep and bear arms. The "sanctuary cit...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

Oh, I also specifically months ago sent a note requesting sponsorship/support for HB560. And I'm skeptical we'll clear the deck if unlicensed, constitutional carry passes. I can't really understand why broadly reducing off limits locations doesn't get traction. Maybe licensed folks like me need to ...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

My (likely unpopular) opinion is I wish the emphasis on unlicensed carry would just go away. The distraction caused by 'constitutional carry' this cycle and Open Carry last cycle haven't help much with the notion of lawful carry in increasingly more places. With the reduction in LTC fees (assuming ...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute and HB560

Sheesh. So if a business had a 30.07 sign, but no gunbuster sign, and I wanted to go in carrying openly, I could toss my LTC into the glove box before I went into the store. Then I'd be a legal unlicensed carrier.......???? This is all going to be idiotically complicated. You won't find 1 business ...
