Based on that, a ham radio operator would qualify

Perot Museum status? (Re: Frustration at 30.06 signage)

Headed to the Perot Museum in Dallas today. Can anyone verify whether it is posted 30.06 or not? EDIT: Checked the website, says 30.06 is posted. Also says any found carrying will be asked to remove the weapon from the facility. My visit this time makes that difficult (family, children, long way to ...

ATF to eliminate private sales, shut down private classifieds

Congress needs to step up and curb this infringement. "President Joe Biden plans to announce that he is directing the ATF to close what Everytown calls the “private sales loophole” and the “digital loophole.” The “private sales loophole” is when an individual sells a firearm for profit but does...

Re: ATF Released New Proposed Pistol Brace Rules

For anyone who has not read "Atlas shrugged", do yourself a favor and read it now.
Also highly recommend her other masterwork "The Fountainhead"

Both are very timely even today

Re: ATF Released New Proposed Pistol Brace Rules

What do we do? The previous post recommended a book which some consider instructive. Fiction, of course. Highly recommend it. Personally, if I owned an AR pistol with a diminutive shoulder stock/pistol brace, I would remove it, making the pistol continue to be legal. That pistol brace would work fin...

CEOs for gun control - List

Company CEOs signed a letter to the U.S. Senate urging bold action to advance gun control. Some familiar names here - Dick's Sporting Goods, Live Strause, etc - and a lot of new ones. Text of letter with all 220 signatories. https://www.ceosforgunsafety.org/pages/2022 Recommend not doing business no...

Re: Biden Making a Stealth Move to Restrict 5.56 Ammo?

Sitting on a ton of 5.56 brass, waiting for primers. I had considered scrapping them, but now I think I'll keep 'em, and buy some boolits.
Still waiting of primers at a reasonable price, may just have to pay it.

Re: Gun Values Website

I keep a spreadsheet of my collection, update it regularly as GB Sold values change. I had recently done this. Tonight I ran through most of them using this site. I think it uses GB sales for data, but I find it quicker to use. Of course, the examples shown are not linked, so you can't compare speci...

Re: Federal gun sales databse

I’m not concerned about small business FFLs
It’s the Cabelas, Bass Pros, and Academies that concern me.

Re: Federal gun sales databse

tk1700, thanks for sharing that. Questions: What software system are you using for 4473s? Is that (or is there) an industry standard, or are there other software packages for this purpose? How does the system store the 4473s - a database, PDf, CSV etc. ? Does it store information other than the 4473...

Re: Federal gun sales databse

Cabelas has been using digital forms for years, and Academy uses them now. Cabelas process for buying a gun is now very long and requires multiple sign-offs along the way. It took me approx 45 minutes to buy a .22 pistol, and that was after waiting 30 minutes for a spot on the counter. This was at a...

Re: Federal gun sales databse

I am shocked - Shocked! - that the government is scanning those 4473s! So currently the resultant PDFs are tabbed through by people who are looking for a serial number. The AI/OCR technology exists to automate that process. All it takes is a politicized FBI or ATF to make that change, and we have th...

Federal gun sales databse

Contrary to Federal law, and to no one's surprise, the ATF is apparently building a database of gun sales. I have always assumed that those 4473s turned in from FFLs who retire or die were probably scanned. Now that all the big stores have gone to electronic 4473 forms, I think we are just accelerat...
