Re: New member to forum

Welcome! Beltman and wilderness products instructor belt are some good choices
For belts. I recommend 1.5 inch wide belts as they fit most pant loops. Get the
Holster loops to match the belt width. Milt sparks summer special is a proven choice
For a carry holster. That's a solid start on the path.

Re: Today Was a Good Day...

Good on ya! Wearing the holster rig at home is a good idea to get some experience and build confidence. Tom Givens from Range master is coming to Austin this Spring, and is a highly recommended instructor.

Re: Some cold, hard truth about open carry

I agree with the notion of retention holsters for open carry, even though I am not a fan of open carry. The Safariland retention holsters seem to function better than most. That's probably due to Bill Rogers influence.

Re: Belt Width Important?

I really like the 1.5" belt & holster combo. That belt width fills up most belt loops and that leads to more verticle support for the belt. Stability makes for a repeatable draw stroke.

Re: Attack II - quiet or loud

I think quiet is a good choice. If you see them first, you have at least 2 advantages. Always look to stack the deck in your favor.

Re: Dave Spaulding on Stopping Power

He makes some very good points.

On caliber, I wish he would have added to his recommendation to factor in the cost of practice ammo. Not only the money for ammo, but also physical cost of the practice with the carry gun.

Excellent find! I wish I could have made it to that event ( The Snubby Summit) in Florida. Another milestone Paul Gomez had a hand in, and its still helping people get better.
