Re: SB 88- Making red light camera tickets illegal

Get rid of ALL of them!!! Complete revenue grab. Do a bit of research; most are issued for failure to come to a complete stop while turning right on a red light. No danger to anyone, but annoying and expensive for those who choose to pay them.... And that is EXACTLY what happened to me in Plano. St...

I am happy about the ruling, but I wish it had been someone who was legal to carry.

Glad it turned out the way it did. Two of the fundamental things I learned at A&M was that Calvert and Cooke's Point are the biggest speed traps in Texas. That is, of course unless you are driving through Selma. ...or Estelline. LabRat Ditto Estelline. Just before or after(depends on direction ...

Re: Travel Trailer register & tax

Tax, what tax? Sales tax is paid at time of purchase and license fees are paid with each license - new or renewal. Right? Correct. Tax is paid when you first buy the RV then each year the registration. Good, that's all we've been paying and that is plenty! Having to have you TT inspected is a FARCE...

Re: don't mess with Texas mama bear!

The most demure woman on the planet will kill you with extreme prejudice if you threaten her children Most Definitely. My wife who really has somewhat of an aversion to firearms would use a shotgun or what ever is handy to blow away someone threatening her daughter or grandkids. That is if she didn...

Re: LTC Permit and Back Taxes

Back in 1970 I was fooled into buying land for an investment. The deal turned out to be a scam. I had to pay taxes on the worthless junk land before I could get my license paying the taxes was adding insult to injury. I still have to pay six dollars a year in taxes for nothing to keep my license. I...

Re: Stabbing at The University of Texas

The killer didn't use a firearm, so maybe "the system" worked in that regard. However, he WANTED to harm/kill other people, and he still found a way to do that, despite not having a firearm. Which, IMHO, just confirms that it isn't the weapon, but the intent of the person using it, that m...

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?

Just like "failure to maintain assured clear distance" is the catch all for "you were involved in an automobile accident and we think you should pay, regardless of whose fault it is." Too bad I don't see DPS or Sheriff's Deputies pulling over those who either didn't learn or hav...

Re: Texas Illegal Knife Bill unanimously passes out of committee.

I just bought a nice KaBar I would like to carry once or twice just for grins. It would be nice to have my tactical tomahawk in my truck when I travel to dispatch any zombies I encounter. I have an old wood handled hatchet that I have been carrying in my truck or otherwise for over 45 years. About ...

Re: Time to move

I took the POST and physical agility test this morning for Montgomery County and I'm pleased to say I passed both. I also have a physical test for Lubbock County in a couple of weeks. Hopefully some good changes will happen by summer. Good luck sbrawley! It will be a huge culture change for you if ...

Re: Question about Carrying Out of State

We are planning an extended trip this summer pulling our travel travel up into the New York & New England area(Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, etc). Both my wife and I have our CHL and of plan on carrying our weapons. We know which states we can carry in and which ones we can't. We plan on drivi...

Re: SB 88- Making red light camera tickets illegal

I hope it doesn't pass. In fact, I would like to see the fines made into a moving violation. I'd also like to see cameras at every intersection. It's one thing to have to squeak through the light. Something totally different to see 2, 3 or 4 cars go through the light. Having been a LEO, written a n...

Re: Go Florida! Why can't we get a few Texas legislators to do this?

Ya'll might want to research the whole "Only a Constable can arrest a Sheriff in Texas" thing. To my knowledge (21 years LEO) there is no statute or law, in Texas anyway, that provides the Sheriff immunity from arrest by any other peace officer. Just my .02, LeonCarr :iagree: When I was a...
