Re: Called out in church on my CC

I don't like for anyone outside of family to know that I carry. If there is a situation that may require self defense I don't want anyone glancing my way like they are expecting me to do something. And believe me, they will. Glances are giveaways if the assailant is paying attention.

Congrats. Will be looking for you on the airwaves. Now that I have an old partially operational HF rig I'm finding 40 meters has become my favorite band.

Re: Has anyone heard from Mr Cotton?

Thanks. I don't normally read those threads. I had sent a pm couple days ago about ham nets and got no reply. But that was understandable given the situation down there. Glad they are okay.

Re: Has anyone heard from Mr Cotton?

Just made inquiry on one of the ham radio storm nets and Charles call sign supposedly was heard mobile in Missouri yesterday. Hope that's correct.

Has anyone heard from Mr Cotton?

Saw that the flooding was particularly bad in Friendswood. Has anyone heard from Charles and what his situation is?

Re: Wife to have rotator cuff surgery

Had it done in 2011 when I was 61. Big cut required because of 3 separate tears. PT started with a electric operated arm exerciser chair, plus 3 times a week to a therapy center, and home exercises. Over door pulley, elastic bands, and unassisted motion exercises. I did all the exercises they said I...

Re: Dallas activists press for Confederate monument to come down

I think it only fair, then, to press for the removal of Lincoln's monument from D.C.. If it is racism the that bothers them then let's just see what Lincoln himself thought of the African race. "There is a natural disgust in the minds of nearly all white people to the idea of indiscriminate am...

Re: HiPoint JHP failure to ....?

Look at the ejector and the extractor. One of them malfunctioned and let the empty just flip over and the slide rammed it in. And was it the last round in the mag.
Actually I would call/email HiPoint and send them the pic. They might be interested.

Re: Where to begin with a HAM radio?

I've been having fun listening to the repeaters near me. Bought a mobile rig earlier; Yaesu FT-8900R. Need to figure out an antenna setup that'll work with my truck and the garage. I couldn't use the factory radio antenna on the truck because it kept hitting the garage door when I'd pull in and out...

Re: Where to begin with a HAM radio?

Most of my old HF radios are in a state of disrepair. Working on repairing my old Drake TR3 tube type transceiver to get back on the air. My newer Icom 720a solid state HF is down for the second time and no one wants to repair it. IC chips hard to get. Sent a request to Icom but did not get an answe...
