Re: Flashback 30 Years: Guns Were in Schools ... and Nothing Happened

We often brought guns and ammo in the principals office so we could hunt squirrels, rabbit, quail, and pheasant on the way home. I'm talking about 13, 14, and 15 years old.

Re: Not watching the Superbowl

I had lost interest in the NFL in the early 2000s. Only time I see any NFL is if it's on in a restaurant. I've heard about the current "Kneeling" crap and just hang my head in further disgust

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Happy one year President Trump. Your tolerance and fortitude are remarkable. Better men would have folded and resigned with the onslaught you have had to endure. How none of what he has gone through has not changed Trump is unthinkable. He has really shown how the elite think of us and how both par...

Re: Where to begin with a HAM radio?

A handheld or auto mounted are the only radios I use when there is lightning within 10 miles. All my antenna coax lines are disconnected and grounded outside the house and my radios are isolated from the electrical system. Lightning scares me. Arrestors help in keeping the static charge buildup redu...

Re: Where to begin with a HAM radio?

Depending on where you live you may need a permit to put up a 50 footer. If there is any chance it could fall onto neighboring properties they will have code requirements. You are going to have to guy it every 10 feet of height no mater what mount you use. The base is your choice or what ever the co...

Re: My Water Line Burst

From the pex FAQs:Q: Can SharkBite PEX pipe be buried? A: Yes, SharkBite PEX pipe is approved to AWWA C904 which covers PEX pipe in regards to burial. Be sure to check with local, city or state codes to see if the pipe needs to have sleeves or any type of protective burial for your area. PEX pipe ca...

Re: My Water Line Burst

Did someone encase cast pipe in concrete. mortar, etc... maybe a previous "epoxy repair"? How far is it from the meter to the house? I'm afraid there are other sections of that pipe in similar condition. You may need to replace a lot of pipe. edit;It is iron pipe. Now whether is galvanized...

Re: My Water Line Burst

I believe that sweated or threaded fittings are the only things permitted on gas line. Using a shark bite on gas is plain irresponsible and a danger. Shark bites are dependable if proper pipe prep is done. Squared, clean, and debured cuts are needed. Shark bite should not be used on the old Quest pi...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

“Since taking office I have been very strict on Commercial Aviation. Good news - it was just reported that there were Zero deaths in 2017, the best and safest year on record!” Trump tweeted on Tuesday. What part of that tweet is untrue? Read it literally, not with left wing inference. Yes it may be ...

Never heard of Brian Stelter before. Now I understand why. The CNN logo was enough and I don't go there. He's now had his 15 min of fame.

Re: S&W Model 27 v 28

I carried a 27 for a while when I was younger. Good shooter and heavy enough to tame the 357 loads a bit, It got to be too heavy on the hip. Liked the gun but it was nickel plated and did I mention----- heavy. :???: It's now a night stand/closet gun. Also had to change out the wood stocks to Hogue f...

I also always leave the car running. That would be the easiest car-jacking. Key in the car and running, door open, empty seat, if timing is right a full tank of gas. :totap: Besides if you read the instructions for fueling "the engine must off". If the station attendant is paying attentio...

Re: Where to begin with a HAM radio?

You don't really need 10 meters right now as it's only sporadic openings. Think I've made only about a dozen contacts all year on 10. Most of them followed the gray line. But that said it might be an ideal time to buy a separate 10 meter ssb rig since their demand is low right now. One caution is th...
