Re: Texas to Florida in June

I did this drive several years ago and made myself a little chart to have in my car to show me which states I needed obey signs but the main thing I wanted to be sure of that I have not already seen posted here is which states I needed to notify LEO in case I got stopped.

Re: WA man arrested after killing intruder in shower

Did he go home to get a gun? That article didn't say where he went unless I missed something. Firing through the shower curtain seems to indicate the threat might be questionable. Call the police would probably have been a better response even if it was perfectly legal. I thought in Texas there doe...

WA man arrested after killing intruder in shower

I wasn't sure if I should stick this in the Crime Blotter section or Self Defense section. I put it here because he's charged. Leaving the scene to get a gun and coming back instead of calling the police doesn't sound like a good idea. I don't know if there is more to the story but it didn't sound l...

Re: Every day hearing protection

Check out Surefire. I'd give you a link but I'm using my phone. They have several models with slightly different features. What I use has a little cap you can leave open to allow more sound but suppress louder sounds or close it for max suppression. I use these for riding my motorcycle and wanted so...

Re: Sales tax on personal sales at gun shows

In Texas there is also a "Use" tax. Anyone who buys taxable goods and services that are stored, used or consumed in Texas from a seller who does not charge Texas sales tax owes Texas use tax. https://www.comptroller.texas.gov/taxes/sales/use-tax.php So all you tax evaders must start filli...

Re: Gunsmith in DFW area?

I am seeking a qualified gunsmith to work on Browning HP P-35 (1951). I shot it for the first time and I am getting a consistent FTE with Reloads Ammo as well as Facotry Ammo. My best guess the extractor is sliding off the casse rim and the case is half way in the chamber. The Slide goes back forwa...

Re: Giuseppe Verdi = Joe Green? Bruxelles = Brussels?

This topic has been of interest to me through the years. Just taking the example of Germany vs Deutschland here in the thread I did a quick google and came up with a pretty reasonable sounding explanation. I have not chased the other links yet but just this one sheds some light on the topic. https:/...

Re: Son had a weird encounter at Walmart

Ok, I don't mean to sound argumentative or stupid buy any means but then what is the point of having legal notices denying entry if all that is required to make it an illegal action is to have an employee say "you can't carry in here" even IF company policy states it is acceptable with LT...

Re: Ahhhh, Making Plans for Summer Vacation...

Don''t forget http://www.handgunlaw.us The link posted by Pawpaw is a great resource. I did a drive out to Florida and made a little spreadsheet for each state with a few key pieces of info like what signs needed to be obeyed and if I had to show my CHL if stopped. I kept this where I could grab it...

Re: I have a question

I think it comes down to the letter of the law vs the spirit of the law. For some of this discussion, maybe. For some of the descriptions and scenarios I think it's plain. If an officer can walk up and look around in your car and see your gun without moving anything, that would be unconcealed. I do...

Re: I believe, I believe - there are some dumb reporters

I guess time will tell if he's the right guy, but according to the author the police are not sure they arrested him, but they believe they did. Where do these people attend journalism classes or even basic writing? Where is the proof reader? Not sure this fits exactly in the category, but I laughed...

CA: Gun Club Put Out of Businees - Lead Pollution

California comes up with another way to make life hard on gun owners. The claim is the lead from spent bullets is leaching into the ground. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/03/02/gun-club-closed-because-pollution-from-spent-bullets.html?intcmp=ob_article_footer_text&intcmp=obnetwork While looking ...
