Re: Deadly Force Justified?
The article said (suggested) that the person carried 3-5 pound rocks up to the bridge and was dropping them on passing cars. After drawing your weapon if the person didn't stop what would you do? The tough question. Now pretend your wife is driving and coming up to that bridge. Interesting thought ...

Re: Would this sign work for our Church
The sermon on the mount was delivered to an armed audience, mostly open carrying their staves and knives - but I get the current context. The proper emotional reaction to an openly carried firearm is warmth and peace, unless the firearm appears not to be properly cared for, in an inappropriate holst...

Re: Deadly Force Justified?
Seems like a huge case of "it depends." A lad throwing rocks that can verbally stopped, no justification. An assailant determined to injure or kill, sure, but not as a first option. For a kid, "Hey, stop that!" And call the police. For an adult, maybe draw your weapon before dema...

Re: Another 2 year old shoots Mom
Tragic. One reason I don't like gun free zones. The pistol on my belt is not going to be handled - or mishandled - by anyone. On me is the safest place for it.

Re: ONE-TWO shooting tip
A cadence is a good training tool. I'm not sure the one-two approach is the only way. I try to predict how long I'll need to make a shot and then shoot on that cadence. I can't worry about recoil or noise, because the gun is going to go off on schedule. Some of those tips on that page are counter to...

Re: Shots fired at Woodlands Academy Parking Lot
From the ABC story, A civilian concealed handgun license-holder opened fire, shooting out of the tires.
I would not have attempted this from a moving vehicle. Being inside the tires would make me too dizzy to shoot accurately.

Re: Letters to the editor
Ride, shoot straight, and speak the truth. I like pen names on line and think Facebook is plain batty to oppose their use. Face to face, or in letters to the editor, I am me, friendly, and have the assurance of history there is nothing unreasonable or uncivilized in my opinions. No worries, nothing ...

Re: Obamacare and Insurance Companies Pulling Out
Hmmm... Crocodile tears?
Insurance companies fought for Obamacare. Now that it's here, every customer that drops off of the Obamacare plan funnels right into free market plans. The insurance companies end up with more customers after setting up a system they are now ducking.

Re: The Texas secession debate is getting kind of real
I'm afraid the only secession we could ever see is a hearts and minds secession like TAM mentioned, and at that only by a discreet, timid minority. An informal, unannounced secession remaining outwardly obedient to a suzerain Federal government, if I'm using the term correctly. Hopefully in such cir...

Re: Mariana Islands gun tax
Rather like a poll tax, isn't it?
Ugly, those who would champion such a thing. Poll taxes were, after all, a component of the despicable legislation of the Jim Crow era.

Re: Guns in Higher Ed Just a Shot Away
Consider two hypothetical societies. In one, the unpleasantness of crime is barricaded from contact with developing minds and any justification for self-defense is derided. In the other country, youngsters are warned they must defend against attack. The mandate of evil is not answered with restricti...

Re: Does Carrying A Pistol Make You Safer?
Safer? I'm not sure that's entirely the point, even if it's true. I carry because better men than I gave what it took, more than anyone has a right to ask, to keep this county secure. My gun is the constant companion of my walks because I am blessed to live in a free country and because, despite my ...

Interesting. CJ Grisham was quoted by the Waco Tribune as saying he's a "badged and credentialed special agent."

Re: John Eagle Honda Signage Report
What rich turf for debate. In 2014, there were 15,648,733 licensed drivers in Texas. There were 3,534 highway fatalities from the death dealing instruments of terror John Eagle sells without FBI background checks. That same year, there were 825,957 CHL licenses. Tragically, inexcusably, there were 6...
