Re: U.S. Navy question

...No one will know if they wear the wrong cover. Years ago on a small base overseas, I was working a 5AM to 5 PM shift, 4 on 4 off. Had to pass through a couple of rings of marine security to get the facility. If the weather was good, I'd walk from my quarters to the complex. Now walking in the da...

Re: Is it me or are postings down

I think the broken log-in cookie issue probably slows things down too.

Yep, works nicely for that.

Re: Class / Range or Range / Class

Does anyone know if RSD specifies the order of classroom and range. I've always done classroom first then range, but I've seen many gun ranges do the range portion first and then the classroom part.. For me common sense is to do the classroom portion first as we go over safety rules, basic handgun ...

Re: Texas-Made Suppressors Exempt From NFA Regulations HB 957

Have had customers talking excitedly about it and hate to throw cold water on their enthusiasm, but I'm not touching that one with a 10 ft pole. See the Kansas examples and folks in at least one other state, Utah or South Dakota maybe?

Re: Winchester/NRA Marksmanship - challenging you!

I was thinking about this the other day, wondering if there was going to be anybody left at NRA who remembered it existed.

Re: Transfer of pistol with CO license

He needs proof of Texas residency from a state, county, or city govt entity. The Colorado ID will work for the photo ID part, but he'll need the proof of residency to take possession of a pistol either at point of sale or transfer. Question 26.b. Supplemental Government Issued Documentation (if iden...

Re: Officer Involved Emergency Room Shooting

I didn't see that he had fired - good catch. Had to slow it way down to figure it out. The officer's reactions after he got his firearm back in action is interesting. Not sure if it took him out of the fight mentally or not. I thought he had a much better position and a safer shooting angle than th...

2020 numbers

Added 479,372 new license holders for 2020 calendar year. Couldn't find a total number currently issued. Percentage of criminal convictions ticked up, to 0.4334 %, or 114 individuals. If you look at the total number of convictions for 2020, it's only 26,304. That's down a good 14 thousand from the r...

Re: Pistol Caliber Carbine Roundup

For 2 years, I tried to find a 45ACP carbine that would work. I'm not interested in thousands for a boat-anchor thompson or H&K unicorn. Without getting into specifics, I tried all the usual options and not one came close to working reliably if at all. To that end, we all laugh and make fun of ...

RSD Handgun website redesign

If you haven't peeked at the RSD page or the Handgun Licensing page in a while, they've redesigned the entire DPS site. Worth checking out so you can keep your students correctly informed. I've got to update screen shots in my LTC presentation. Quick impression is that it's simpler and more mobile f...
