Re: CHL Website Resource

I would like to see pictures of signs posted for each location - this would allow each individual to make their own decision based on the legality of the signs.

Good luck!

Re: Kimber Compact CDP II - Range Report

Interesting. Gave Mr. Shasta the same gun (bought from DaveT here) for his birthday in November. 2 Kimber magazines. We've put over 300 rounds through it without so much as a hiccough. I have regretted not buying that gun from DaveT since I saw it was sold! I'm sure that you and Mr. Shasta will enj...

Re: Kimber Compact CDP II - Range Report

Another 150 rounds through the gun today.

The stock Kimber mag gave me two more FTF, giving me a 5% failure rate with that mag. On the other hand, my Wilson mag has only had one FTF out of 200 rounds.

I trust the gun, but I don't think that I'll be using the Kimber mag anywhere but the range.

Re: 1911 Magazines

Heck, whatever works reliably, as far as I'm concerned. Some more homework... More good reading! My stock Kimber mag has 100 rounds through it at this point, with 5 FTF. On the other hand my Wilson Combat mag has 200 rounds through it, with only 1 FTF. Once I get the gun through the break-in period...

Re: 1911 Magazines

I had no idea how complex my question was when I asked it! I glanced through the article so far, but it looks like a lot of interesting things to consider. Thanks Andy! I know, huh? You can thank JMB's obsession with the concept of "controlled-feed" for that  I've completed your ...

Re: Finished class but dissapointed

Other instructors.... When you see a post like this, do you immediately scour the post for details hoping you don't recognize it as one of your students? Even when we do a good job, there's always that chance that someone didn't like the class but didn't say anything to you. I'm just glad I haven't...

Re: Kimber Compact CDP II - Range Report

The grip safety with the bump you speak of. Is it a little bump at the bottom of the grip safety about half way up the grip? If so I have had two different 1911's with that feature added and I did not care for that at all. I have small hands to begin with and I found it to kinda bite my hand/or app...

Re: 1911 Magazines

Make sure you choose the feed-lip and follower style appropriate to the type of ammo you're intending to shoot. Here's an example I had no idea how complex my question was when I asked it! I glanced through the article so far, but it looks like a lot of interesting things to consider. Thanks Andy!

Re: Kimber Compact CDP II - Range Report

Its a beauty. :fire What do you plan on adding/changing after reliability check? Thank you. I'd like to add a mag well and get a grip safety with a bump. Down the line, I'm thinking that I'll get it refinished in BlackT, but that will be after it has developed some character. I like the grips prett...

Re: 1911 Magazines

Hmm....lots of options and good suggestions. I may have to try out a few and see what I end up liking the best. I'm not too concerned about the length that the bumpers would add, as I see a mag well in my gun's future. That is actually part of the reason that I went with the officers frame, I knew I...

Re: 2 guns stolen out of my truck mckinney

Oh that sucks. Sorry to hear about your loss. What's even more disturbing is that I live pretty close to that area. Looks like I need to get a Console Vault. MojoTexas :txflag: You'd be shocked with the number of BMVs in McKinney! The majority of the time it is people who leave things in plain sigh...

1911 Magazines

What are your favorites? Pros and cons of different designs? Anything features that I should take into consideration? Wilson Combat? Chip McCormick? Tripp Cobra Mags? Other favorites? I've run Wilsons and have been happy with them, but I'm just starting to wonder what others have to offer. :tiphat:

Re: IWB Magazine Holsters

I've tried an all-leather one, but as soon as I pull the magazine out, it collapses, hence my desire for a kydex shell. ...if I am in a gunfight and need to reload, the old magazine doesn't have to go back into the magazine holster. If it is empty, it goes on the ground. If it is a tactical reload,...
