Re: Who's been to Gunsite?
While I do believe they allow tent camping you will definitely want a hotel room. You’ll want a nice bed and AC after a full day. I believe there is a Days Inn in Chino Valley, just a few minutes away. You might call the Gunsite office and see if they have any suggestions. They are very helpful. You...

Re: Who's been to Gunsite?
I went a few years ago and took the Church Defense class (modified 250). As for gear: -Take a loader like a Maglula UpLula...unless you have bionic thumbs. -Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen -Tinted glasses for the range. Clear glasses for the Fun House and Play House. -A good hat that works with your...

Re: First Responder Instructor Certification Training Course
What is this "free professional training" being spoken of? Curious. From DPS? My interactions with the DPS officers, the staff at Florence, and the facilities have been nothing but professional. One thing I appreciated, and didn't expect, was when we were at the Florence facility we were ...

Re: First Responder Instructor Certification Training Course
With so few Instructors that will be allowed to attend this course, it would seem they would take the best qualified. (I did not consider myself really qualified to teach some of the subject matter required) I would venture to guess that 90%+ Instructors are not really qualified either. We all know...

Re: First Responder Instructor Certification Training Course
I got the class full email. I'm going to throw a few questions out there. Any thoughts on what to charge for a 40 hour class? Who is going to pay for it? The 1st Responder? Their Employer? How feasible is it for them to ask for a week off? Range rental fees for "run & gun" & conce...

Re: First Responder Instructor Certification Training Course
Did anyone get a “we received your application” email after they sent in the application? I don’t know whether to expect one or not. I’m used to getting one when I send in other correspondence. Makes me a little nervous not knowing if they got it on their end if, as it seems, they got overwhelmed wi...

Re: First Responder Instructor Certification Training Course
Thanks for the update AF. As we suspected the “specialized” equipment isn’t that special.
I sent my application back in just under an hour at 1329. Makes me wonder how many got sent before me.
Now to see how quickly they offer classes.

Re: First Responder Instructor Certification Training Course
I'm curious as to how many active instructors they sent this to. Assuming somewhere in the neighborhood of 2000 to 3000 active across the state, there are only what 150 chairs in the classroom... Usually when your get your initial LTC instructor email you get a date about 6 months out and you are i...

Re: Stop the Bleed is a must for a anyone
How many people walk around with a tourniquet? How many have a trauma kit close at hand? You can pack a sucking chest wound until the cows come home but the victim will die without a trauma surgeon. External bleeding with a chest wound is not THE major problem. Even an upper leg wound can bleed out...

Re: First Responder Instructor Certification Training Course
required "specialized" equipment If I was to guess, and it is only a guess, the specialized equipment will be extra magazines, mag holsters, OTB holster, kneepads, maybe electronic muffs, flashlight, or the like. You know, the normal load out for a lot of us. "Specialized" becau...

Re: First Responder Instructor Certification Training Course
What we were told, I believe at our one hour (grrr) instructors renewal class, is the class was probably going to be patterned, somewhat, after the school safety course. I'm sure it will build off of some of the same basics and supplement specifics for situations common for first responders The RDS ...

Re: Ice Storm 2022
The Greater Lubbock Metroplex has dry, wind-blown snow with little accumulation other than some small drifts. Streets are hit or miss depending on how much wind can blow across them. Dry and clear at the house where there is no wind break. Current temps around 15 degrees F (WC -3) after a low of 9 F...

Re: Signage dilemma
Advice that has been given here before is to contact TABC stating you feel the establishment is posting the wrong sign. You don't need to tell them you're an LTC or go into the 2nd amendment. TABC will take it from there and the issue should be remedied promptly.

Re: Different Triggers On Different ARs in Safe.
I went with the LaRue MBT. Admittablely I don’t have anything to compare it to other than milspec but it is really nice, especially for the price point. Very natural feeling. I don’t have very many rounds with it but the first impressions are good. I think will stick with single stage triggers for m...
