Re: Galveston: bad night for robbery
... I'll bet 100 people a day get mugged in Houston or San Antonio. It's not news because it happens so often. - Jim When I took my very first CHL course, in San Antonio in 1998, the instructor had the "first chair" (I think that's what he called him) felony prosecutor of Bexar County lec...

...One thing that is fairly common though not commonly mentioned is the so called "mark of Cain" effect where those who have never had to fight for their lives or the lives of others pull back from and shun someone who has had to do those things. ..., and that it has nothing to do with wh...

Re: San Antonio get together
Special thanks to ELB, who ran and got coolers full of ice and water so we didn't whither away out there. I'll get pics of the new toy up later. I was only the errand boy. Stephan's idea, and he ponied up the largest donation. LikesShinyThings was true to her name by donating brand new one dollar c...

Re: So where are we for the legislative session?
The Texas Firearms Coalition website has a tally of the bills, but it is in the order of the bill numbers, which made it hard for me to understand. I resorted it into subject areas (based on my own criteria as to what the subject was). You may find this of use. Or you may not: PACKIN' ON YOUR JETSKI...

See you at Kreuz's. I am off to beddy-byes, gotta get up and find my extra 9mm ammo and a few other items. Ran out of time and energy today.
See you there.
See you there.

Re: San Antonio get together
Unless everyone checks the board tonight, seems like changing the restaurant location risks leaving some people out of the loop. But I do not know what other ranges are within reasonable distance of Kreuz's. I guess without everyone checking in, my suggestion is go ahead and meet at Kreuz's and see ...

Re: This day in history - June 16
My first Air Force assignment was as a programmer for a weapons system that originally started with the System 360, but was using the System 370 by the time I arrived. This was the Airborne Warning and Control System, the E-3A (then B & C) Sentry. The computer on the aircraft was called a "...

Re: Ammo and Flying
This has worked for me on Southwest and several other airlines: I put the magazines (usually two) in a standard cardboard off-the-shelf ammo box reinforced with some clear tape, and stuff in either bubble wrap or the rag I use to wipe down my gun to keep the mags from rattling. I use a PMC .38 box b...

Re: Ultimate 9mm pistol
I have a BHP, switched to it from a Glock 17 because it fits in the hand dp very nicely. It is true that to get the best trigger out of it you need to remove the mag disconnect (not to mention removing yet one more way to cause your gun to not fire). IIRC JMB wasn't able to use the same trigger syst...

Re: Texas Knife Laws - New Info
.... He also wondered why, if you've got a CHL and are carrying, would you want to also have an illegal knife or club? Yes, hammer/nail. If you do even a little serious training defending against a close-in attack such as one would encounter on the street or bigboxstore parking lot, it doesn't take...
