Re: Gun Friendly Doctor - What would you do next time?

I carry my S&W M&P Mod 2.0 9mm 5inch openly into my doctor's building. I step on the scale wearing my EDC. If my doctor wants to know my real weight, I'll tell him I'm wearing about 11 pounds of clothes and gear. In this case, I would not change my default behavior. I wish we had a like but...

Re: Would You Tell?

Having your LTC is no secret from any LEO. So telling them doesn't bother me. But I agree that a bunch of photos in a small town police office isn't going to help much in the event of someone melting down.

Re: Gun Friendly Doctor - What would you do next time?

If there was no 30.06/30.07 you would be fine. One of my doctors office is not posted, however i do disarm as they have be step on the scale before going to the exam room. I really don't want to have my weight increase 4-5 pounds or lay the pistol on the table before getting weighed. That makes sen...

Gun Friendly Doctor - What would you do next time?

I've reached the age where I have to see a dermatologist at least once a year for skin cancers. Too many years working out in the sun. I had become dissatisfied with my old doc, and decided to go to a new on that a friend had recommended. He works in a fairly large clinic with a bunch of other derma...

Re: Had an issue at the NASJRB in Fort Worth

They were just doing their job! :rules: I'm glad you were dealing with some rational people who accommodated the need for that "tool" on the job site. :thumbs2: Reminds me of the time I was asked to pull into an area for a vehicle search at Naval Air Station Pensacola. They were concerned ...

Re: Random Drug Test: Dilemma!

I would say that since this technician was a "3rd party" and the situation was outside of normal company operations that you would have been ok. But my opinion really doesn't mean squat to you're bosses I'm sure... There were other employees present who were also selected randomly. If it ...

Re: Corrected Vision Shooting

I can't see the rear sight anymore. I still can see the post. When I realized that, I got a laser sight and drew with it thousands of times until I learned to point shoot. I would draw and point without looking at the sights, then flick the laser on with the tip of my forefinger. I was pretty bad at...

Re: Ever Shoot with No Ear Protection for Training?

There is something you are not factoring in, and cannot train for. Namely, adrenaline. Don't sacrifice you hearing unnecessarily. Adrenaline will keep you from even noticing the sound. I am going to disagree to an extent about adrenaline. Enter a two-way kill house using simunitions. You'll get clo...

Re: Ever Shoot with No Ear Protection for Training?

I'm sure most of us routinely use ear protection when we are shooting for practice or training or whatever similar activity. However, if we ever have to fire our weapon in a real-life defense situation, we are almost certainly NOT going to have ear protection on. If you haven't noticed, gunfire is ...

Random Drug Test: Dilemma!

I walked into a dilemma this week and I found myself in a position where I was facing two company policies that were in direct conflict of each other. My name got pulled for a random drug test. In these cases we are supposed to report immediately to a specific area of the building and submit a urine...

Re: Purse Carry

There has been a lot of discussions here about carrying in a purse. Do some searching of the forum and you may turn up some useful ideas. I am personally against the idea for a number of reasons. 1) If the BG grabs your purse, you just lost your gun and another gun is in the hands of criminals. 2) I...
