I inspected the gun before shipping it to them and it looks like there was an indentation made on the chamber from dry firing. Guessing that's reason the casings fit so tight in the chamber. I seriously doubt that they are metal detectors. My bet would be that they are RFID readers for asset tracking and inventory, or possibly a test for a new "scan and go" type system that allows customers to avoid waiting in line for a cashier.
