NRA Training Counselor development

#1

Post by Paladin »

The NRA currently has around 2,200 Training Counselors (TC) who play a central role in the NRA Firearms training program.

NSSF Retailer Surveys Indicate 5.4 Million First-Time Gun Buyers in 2021 with another 8.4 million first time gun buyers in 2020. The NEED for firearms education is very high right now.

In order to reach more people and train more instructors, more NRA Training Counselors are required. There is a process for this: Become A Training Counselor, however there has been a significant backlog of instructors waiting for a spot in the development workshop as well as an East coast bias regarding training location. As anti-gun elements in Virginia have sadly become more hostile to the 2nd Amendment, and Texas is to become the new NRA HQ which also happens to be a far more central location in the US... I think there are MAJOR advantages of having an NRA Training Counselor Development Workshop CADRE here in Texas.

The last few years have shown the current Virginia cadre can't do this all on their own. The Texas CADRE would help alleviate the longstanding backlog of instructors waiting for a Development Workshop. Being centrally located the new Texas CADRE would also be better situated to serve the nation. Having Texas CADRE would save a substantial amount of travel time/costs for many TC candidates.

Creating a new Texas CADRE would be a WIN for training new NRA Training Counselors, a WIN for training new NRA Firearms instructors, a WIN for educating the public on firearms safety, as well as a big WIN for Texas.
