...at a decent price and in excellent condition.

S&W Model 581. In the '80's I'd owned the stainless counterpart and let it get away...

This one has but a tiny bit of holster wear near the muzzle end of the barrel. Sadly, the factory service stocks had been replaced with Pachmayr's. I stuck on this old, old set of Fitz "Gunfighter" grips that have been relieved to work with speedloaders.

The DA pull is fine and the gun has the "M" stamp indicating that S&W did the modification (replace the "hammer nose" and I believe the firing pin bushing) to prevent possible primer flow when using certain makes of magnum ammunition. (My old 681 did not have the "M" and I'd not sent it back and it worked fine with all of the factory ammo and handloads I tried in it back then.)

In any event the gun shot to exact POA at 15 yards 158-gr. loads as well as with Winchester 145-gr. STHP's in 357 Magnum.

I hope I have enough sense to hang on to this one.

Best.
