Renewal

#1

Post by rgoldy »

I understand that after a specific number of renewals we are not required to attend the class to apply for renewal.
Is this correct? What is the criteria for this to apply? The on-line application does not seem to reflect this anywhere.
Has anyone gone through the procedure yet that could speak from experience?
I don't mind taking the class again if it is a requirement, but see no reason not to take advantage of what is offered.

Answered my own question. An email to the nice folks at DPS got a reply that since this is my 4th trip I do not have to submit a CHL-100 form. They also offer alternative of not submitting a new photo and fingerprints, but if the ones they have on file do not pass muster, you will have to send new ones and that will delay processing. I expect I will see if I can make a trip to L1 since DPS will not accept anything except electronic prints anymore.

Interesting note, the digital fingerprints allow a significant reduction in processing time and have reduced fingerprint rejections by a huge amount (90% or more).
