74 yo wife has non life threatening injuries. Robber caught down the street bleeding. 3am, broke glass in front door with a rock.

No mention of charges, grand jury or castle doctrine, is the news media changing its tune.

Good job old man!!

Holy crap. This is a good example of the kind of lunatics running around loose out there. This guy smashes a front door window with a rock at 3 a.m. and starts beating up this guy's wife, gets shot in the shoulder and takes off running..... straight to another house and attempts to break in there, too. Sounds like a meth head or something.

“Upon arrival, deputies located (a man) in the roadway on Bath Club Boulevard with a single gunshot wound.” The wounded 51-year-old man also proved to be their burglary suspect, officials said.

And the problem's going to continue to escalate until we get DAs and judges that impose actual penalties for committing Class A misdemeanors and above. Soros-backed DAs and judges are giving violent criminals get-out-of-jail-free cards, which does nothing more than make them feel empowered to go out and commit more, and even more heinous, crimes. There was a story within the past two weeks of a guy who had been arrested and been given personal recognizance bond (or very low, as in $100) 6 times in one year...and it took him finally getting nailed with a murder charge to actually put him behind bars...at least for a while.

Find a murder charge and nowadays it seems there's about an 80% chance that the criminal was already out on bond when the crime took place.

We may need an addition to Cooper's Color Codes, something between Yellow="Relaxed Alert" and Orange="Specific Alert." Yellow doesn't always cut it anymore. Amber is halfway between pure yellow and pure orange on the color wheel, so maybe we need a Condition Amber="Hypervigilant though No Specific Threat." Sort of like DEFCON 3 in the five DEFCON levels.

Doesn't strictly apply at 03:00 when you're sleeping other than the preparedness steps you take before hitting the sack. But after the sound of glass breaking I don't want to be fiddling with a safe in the nightstand drawer or trying to press the instant alert button on an alarm keypad.
