Well, good for the good guy that he was able to 86 the bad guy with one shot.

But his preparation for this encounter happened to be lucky rather than well-prepared.
He was expecting trouble, thought he'd be OK with only loading his SKS with one round, and then got the
expected trouble.

By the way, can someone enlighten the rest of us about the ammo capacity for an SKS? TIA.

If the other 2 BG's had been armed, and engaged him, he would not have been able to return fire in a timely
fashion.

Let's buy that hero some ammo.

I have a drum for an SKS, but only cause my SKS takes AK mags :-) I know a standard sks will take a 30rd no problem. I think factory they are 10.

The 7.62x39 is a nasty round. I love it. Good job old man.

Yup. I have a 5-shot 7.62x63, but I don't use it for self defense. Although, it did work pretty good back in WWI and WWII.

A standard SKS has a ten round, non detachable magazine. They can be modified to utilize a detachable magazine in various ways. There is one Chinese made variant that comes stock utilizing the AK magazines but are hard to find these days.

Mine is a norinco. came using ak mags. Paratrooper length I think they call it. I dunno much about SKS, or care for them. I just have many AKs and it took the mags. That said it is a great rifle. I wouldnt sell it.

I have seen those duckbill SKS mags detach somehow. My friend has one that uses stripper clips a lot. Not my thing.

If I knew that old mans address I would send him a box of my prized norinco AP rounds. that story made me warm and fuzzy.

Yep... You have one of the good ones. Norinco is a chinese plant. I had a chance to pick one up from a guy at a gun show not once... Not twice... But three times and he would not budge off his asking price of four hundred. This was at three different shows I saw this guy. Next time I saw him it was gone and he got his asking price... :banghead: . One of my more brilliant moves!

The duck bill type mags are what you have to use if one just removes the non detachable mag. Sux! I'm jealous ... Don't let that one get away from you!

I sold most of my old SKS guns and mags from the 1980s
Mostly I had Chinese Type 56 carbines used to see wooden barrels full of them for $89.00 each of all brands at gun shows
I had 10, 20, 30, and 50 round SKS (not AK) detachable mags
The 50s actually held 52

If you like an SKS, and hate the strip-loading, then get an AK, it is even better. the new rd 5.45 is nasty too.

BTW, what is the description of the dead-robber. He was only a too young 18yr kid. The poor young criminal was a victim of social unjustice or whatever the socialist claim it would be. This case, is perfect example of 2A. He victim (the shooter) is a black person. Do we have a chapter for Black people of America for 2nd Amendment? Hey, should I mention race in 2A battle. :banghead:
