Survived South Pacific but not a parking lot in Spokane WA.

""Shorty," as he was known by his friends at the Eagles Lodge, served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during WWII and was shot in the leg during the Battle of Okinawa."

Sad story. Too bad it wasn't armed. But I'm sure the police were only minutes away.

Words cannot express my outrage at this time. Not only a veteran, but a very senior citizen at that. What cowards. I would be interested to know if these two pathetic worms would try the same thing on some of the hockey players from the nearby ice rink or someone more able bodied like myself....

IMHO this is nearly as bad as the teen thugs on trial right now for shooting / killing the baby in Georgia. Both were defenseless more or less, only the vet had lived a long life. Both cases are still inexcusable.

Blame the victim. Suspect claims it was a drug deal gone bad. Police say there is no evidence that the 88 year old was selling crack.

Friends say the 88 year old veteran did not do drugs and says it is a "smear".

For some reason, I'm going to believe the friends of "Shorty" RIP

It will be interesting to see if the judge allows this sort of "drug deal gone bad" statements at the trial.

Well, he may not have done drugs, but the kids say he was selling them. Yeah, I am sure this 88 year old guy was dealing crack cocaine to teens. :totap:

While in unlikely in this case, such activities are not unknown;
