Teen kills burglar in Charlotte area

A 14-year-old teenager was at his grandfather's house when two brothers tried to break in. The house had already been burglarized twice. The teen grabbed his grandfather's gun and shot one of the brothers dead. The other one ran away but was apprehended by police. This teenager lost his father in a robbery-homicide when he was only eight. I'm sure he's game-planned what he would do in a case like this. Fortunately he was successful and uninjured.

I'm glad it ended with the bad guy getting shot instead of the good guy.

I'm also sad for the kid, this is a lot for a 14 year old to handle and it sounds like he's already been through a lot.

Just proof that crime can find you anywhere, anytime.

I grew up in Charlotte. Matthews, Mint Hill, Hemby Bridge are quite upscale areas with a mix of newer homes and well-kept older homes. In years past, there was a quite a bit of open spaces there. Green, lush, lots of trees.....very pretty.

Hope the victim and his grandfather are all fine. Don't care about the home invaders.
