This happened in Tyler today. LTC holders foiled the crime.

Great example of why you should always carry. That's in an upscale new part of town too.

Nope. Guy in video says they ordered him to the ground and he complied.

Great story!
Perfectly handled by LTC holders, game warden etc. I just wonder why the BG wasn't also charged with Aggravated robbery? No money or goods actually have to be obtained, just threatening with a knife, meets the elements of the offense.

Another story about the incident:

http://www.kltv.com/story/34733879/one- ... y-in-tyler

There's a picture of the accused at the link, and ... well, go see.

The article includes the following: "The suspect identified as Chad Boening, 35..."

A little googling reveals this might not be his first rodeo. From last October:

Drunken man to Dallas cops who woke him outside police HQ: 'Now I see why they shoot y'all'
Chad Allen Boening, 34, is accused of attempting to take an officer’s weapon, a felony charge, along with public intoxication, resisting arrest and unlawfully carrying a weapon, officers said....used his baton to poke Boening, who woke up and attempted to take the night stick... two officers wrestled with Boening until a third officer ...was able to take the baton from Boening, ....six outstanding warrants for public intoxication and sleeping in a public place...assaulting a public servant in 2007. ... felony charge resulted in a $100 fine and four years' probation...held in Dallas County Jail in lieu of $17,000 bail.

This guy has a long record of misdemeanors and felonies, assault on public servant back in 2006 and two unlawful weapon charges among them. He's escalated to armed robbery now, so hopefully the DA will throw the book at him.

This is what I would have thought also, but according to the link in OP it says, . . .
Boening was held on the ground until an off-duty Game Warden who was in the area took him into custody.

He was later arrested when Tyler police arrived.

Boening is being charged with aggravated assault.

The incident is still under investigation.
:headscratch Maybe they will up the charge after the investigation is complete.

You're correct , I saw he was charged with Ag Assault. The "armed robbery" was my term for what he tried. I'm hoping the DA will load him up as in two counts of Ag Robbery. I couldn't determine whether he was still on probation.

He committed both AG. Assault and AG. Robbery, he can be charged with both felonies. With his record, he should never have been on the street to commit this crime. Evidently he doesn't think laws apply to him. I hope he gets several years as a ward of the state, to change his mind.
