Internal bluetooth skimmers found in Seguin gas pumps

You may have to have a subscription to read the link, not sure.

Anyway: The local cops discovered that gas pumps at two local service stations had been broken into and a Bluetooth equipped credit card skimmer attached to the motherboards inside the pumps. One of the service stations had called the police because of suspicious activity. The skimmer device was entirely inside the pump and apparently can be read by the thieves using a Bluetooth connection.

There are two external clues that something may be amiss:

- One is the red "State of Texas" sealing tape over the access panel is broken

- The other is if you enable Bluetooth on your phone, you may see a strange device trying to make contact. As quoted in the article: “If under ‘Other Devices’ you see a strange string of letters and numbers, this may be a skimmer Bluetooth device (the skimmers we found in Seguin did this).”

Thanks for the heads up. Criminals are creative, not lazy, it seems.
