Previously I had heard that Cancun was safe for tourists when did this change.

What about Cozumel?

Such a shame a whole country held hostage to being a gun free victim zone.

Mexico is an example of a 1st world country diving to devolve into a 3rd world country!

When we went in 2010, they recommended we not leave the resort area due to criminal activity. Now I understand the BG's are even at the resorts.

This has video of the explosion that occurred on a ferry boat near there. I hadn't looked into it before. Looks like the explosion was supposed to be bigger.

All over Mexico (especially Cozumel) 'used' to be my absolute favorite place for vacation.

I wouldn't step a foot in that heck hole now.

Tourist dollars dried up you say Mr. Mexican politician?

A few years back wife and I went on a Caribbean cruise. When we docked at Cozumel three Mexican police armed with M-16s and a guard dog showed up at the dock to "stand guard" I guess. Did not know whether to be concerned or relieved.
Please know and follow the rules of firearms safety.

Guess the graft from narco dollars looks more attractive to Mexican politicians/gov't than the benefits of tourist dollars. And citizens don't have the ability to help clean it up because the narcos and the gov't are the only ones with guns.......Mao's little red book got at least one thing right.....

Mexico where the best job is to be a criminal.

That's just terrific, eh?

What once was an astoundingly beautiful country is now run by killers.

Well, they won't get me to visit ever again. Me and my moola will be spent in the U.S.
