Benitez Benitez returned moments later and fired several shots toward his assailant after police say he retrieved a .38-caliber handgun from his pick-up truck.

...

There may have been a second death had Benitez Benitez not already unloaded the nine-round pistol in the attack on Castillo, prosecutor Chari Kelly said in opening statements.
Cutting-in-Line altercation leads to line cutters getting a beating. One of them came back with the nine-shot .38 and killed the guy who whooped him. Trial in progress.

.380 semi-auto? 686 with a really fat cylinder?

Long shot: Glock 38?

I once overheard a gun counter discussion where the clerk and customer were confusing a Glock 38 (8+1 .45 GAP, IIRC) with a .38 caliber pistol.
The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.
