HB681/SB321 Parking Lots Bill is on the Floor
The House has called HB681 to the floor and the Senate companion was immediately substituted. Before Rep. Kleinschmidt could begin laying out the bill, a point-of-order was made and it is being discussed now.

We're pretty sure we do have the votes to pass this on the floor, right?

SB321 passed the Senate unanimously, and the Republicans have a 2:1 majority in the House. I don't see any way HB681 fails if it gets to a vote.mgood wrote:We're pretty sure we do have the votes to pass this on the floor, right?

I think the main concern if I've heard correctly is keeping amendments from being added to carve out exemptions for certain groups/industries.hirundo82 wrote:SB321 passed the Senate unanimously, and the Republicans have a 2:1 majority in the House. Yeah, I'm sure some of them are bought and paid for by special interests, but hopefully there are enough honest politicians in the house to keep the bill from being gutted.joelamosobadiah wrote:I think the main concern if I've heard correctly is keeping amendments from being added to carve out exemptions for certain groups/industries.

Kleinschmidt needs to simply read PC 46.02 to this guy to answer who can legally possess a handgun in their car in Texas - this guy doesn't even realize MPA passed years ago

And one of those reasons is that this bill would "allow" disgruntled persons to come in and shoot up the place... Ugh...
Still, I'm hoping for a Tuesday two-fer. Lets' get this passed in the House and Campus Carry through the Senate today!
