CALL TO ACTION: Employer Parking Lots SB321

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

Everyone needs to call their Senator and as many others as you can and thank them for supporting and voting for SB321, the employer parking lot bill. (It passed the Senate 30-1 [Sen. Rodriquez voted "no"). Here is a link to the Senate http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/Members/ ... ?Chamber=S" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Please do likewise in the House. I realize there are 150 House Members, but please call as many as you can and you don't have to do it all in one day. In fact, it would be better of this occurred over the next 2 or 3 days. Here is the link: http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/Members/ ... ?Chamber=H" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I am asking this not only as a courtesy, so please call even if you haven't responded to any other calls-to-action.

Thanks,
Chas.

Called both of mine (Sarah Davis and Mario Gallegos). I also mentioned my disappointment that he withdrew his support for campus carry. The staffer said that the Senator 'just couldn't go up against the institutions'. Apparently the Houston public universities beat him over the head about it??

Will work to call the others over the next few days. Long list!!

Something similar with Hinojosa. The staffer said that he couldn't go against the college presidents, etc. who are opposed to this.

No amount of logic, reasoned response is going to persuade him, seems like.

I already thanked Reps. Pena and Lozano, as well.

I wasn't aware that institutions have been given the power of the vote . . . or that your so-called representative feels that he/she represents institutions.

That response makes me sick on many levels.
[Insert pithy witicism here]

Proudly carrying since 09/10.

I was communicating my appreciation to our law makers even before this topic posted, but I'll also say my thanks to Mr. Cotton! I know what you did to help these along, aside from the obvious calls to action on this forum.

Mine already does. I don't know if that's a good thing, especially when we find someone to run against him, and I help.

I also sent a thank you email to Sen Wentworth after watching the campus carry catfight on the Senate floor. Yea Gods. Whether it passes in 2011 or not, he definitely deserves a thank you for all his efforts.
