Gun bills on the Senate intent calendar today

HB 48 Relating to the procedure under which a person may renew a license to carry a concealed handgun.

HB 508 Relating to certain offenses relating to carrying concealed handguns on property owned or leased by a governmental entity; providing a civil penalty. (This makes no sense since it passed yesterday.)

HB 972 Relating to the carrying of concealed handguns on the premises of and certain other locations associated with institutions of higher education.

HB 1076 Relating to certain firearms, firearm accessories, and firearm ammunition within the State of Texas; providing an exemption from federal regulation and providing penalties.

HB 3142 Relating to handguns used to demonstrate proficiency in handgun use for purposes of obtaining a concealed handgun license.

HB 3370 Relating to the authority of certain retired peace officers and former reserve law enforcement officers to carry certain firearms.

What happened:
To the open carry for CHLers as an option?
Or
To the failure to conceal clarification?

Open carry is a no go.
Failure to conceal clarification passed. See SB299

SB299 has been signed by Gov. Perry and it will be effective on Sept. 1, 2013.

Listening to Sen. Wendy Davis makes me ill. That fact that she was elected to the Senate is puzzling beyond belief.

Her voice is irritating, isn't it? (And her positions are even more so.)

It pains me that she serves part of the Fort Worth area. Luckily I am not in her district.

Thanks. Trying to watch US Senate and State Senate at the same time is a bit of a challenge.

The idiot running against her was clearly outmatched. :tiphat:

I had to put up with both of their commercials during the race but I'm not in that district. They were both juvenile and over the top idiots, she won.
