Homeland Sec.& Public Safety meeting 02/17/15

The House Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee is having its first meeting tomorrow, Tuesday Feb. 17.

But unlike the Senate State Affairs Committee meeting announcement last week, the House's announcement for tomorrow's meeting lists no bills that are under consideration. :totap:

Is that SOP for House Committee's to not list what bills they are considering? :grumble

if it's their first meeting, is it possible they will just be getting together to meet each other, they know who the chair is but maybe not everyone knows who that is, maybe they need to get a "vice chair", maybe they'll look through their bills and see what has been submitted? and see what they want to work on???? then schedule their calendar??? I don't know, sort of makes sense, but....

The committee members were selected 2 or 3 weeks ago, along with chair & vice chair appointments:

Position Member
Chair: Rep. Larry Phillips
Vice Chair: Rep. Poncho Nevárez
Members: Rep. DeWayne Burns
Rep. Tony Dale
Rep. Eric Johnson
Rep. Will Metcalf
Rep. Joe Moody
Rep. Molly S. White
Rep. John Wray

Maybe it's a closed meeting and will not be televised? I dunno. :headscratch

The video of this meeting is now available in the archive. There were no bills discussed. It was just a meet and greet (with some witnesses like DPS).

One thing the Chair mentioned is that his process is to hold bills for one week and not vote them out the same day they are heard.

Thanks for that info v7a. :tiphat: After the first 30 minutes I figured out it was just a meet and greet, like you said. No bills are to be considered today.
