IL: Mayor and Bodyguard Tackle Knife-wielding Terrorist

No not Illinois. "IL" is the two-letter country code for Israel.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat was passing by in his car with his bodyguard when an 18 y.o. Palestinian stabbed a Haredi man (Haredi Jews dress distinctively). Mayor Barkat, 55, who served in the IDF as a paratrooper, exited the car with his armed bodyguard and they tackled the Palestinian, held him for police, and administered first aid.

The Ynet article just says the Mayor's bodyguard apprehended the stabber and the mayor was "present," but the notes on the video from youtube, and the PJMedia article, say the mayor is in a white shirt, and in the video you can see the guy in white shirt is in the lead as a pair of men plus another approach and tackle another person -- and it appears the white shirt went first. In videos on the Ynet site you can see the white-shirted guy appears to be the right age for the mayor, and seems to be giving orders (I think), and a plain-clothes guy with one hand on the downed stabber and holding a handgun in the other.

I am fairly certain whichever one is the mayor, it is not Nanny Bloomberg.

I agree. Kudos to the mayor and bodyguard.

Probably most people with a bodyguard would have instructed them to step on the gas and get the heck out of there.
