Parabellum, The minimal salary is to discourage career politicians. However, most make many multiples of their official salary through cronyism. I suspect there are also kickbacks and bribes that serve as bonuses.

So, Dems have 11 Senate Seats, so can they block GOP bills at will ?

Republicans have close to a 2:1 majority in both houses and also hold the Governors seat. I'd say they should be able to do pretty much anything they like.

But when it comes to gun rights, one problem is that we can't even get agreement among the members of this forum on certain issues (open carry, 30.06 signs = trespassing with no further warning, etc.) so I suspect that it is very difficult to get consensus within the party.

You're right, and rather than promote our agendas, we should rely on the judgment of Charles Cotton and the TSRA to set the agenda, as they will know what is achievable and what is pie in the sky.

Not if the Senate keeps the 3/5 rule of last session.

So GOP has super Majority in both chambers and the Governor seat too. Why Dems bother to file anti-gun bills.

Just in case they can trick Republicans into backing Comrade Joe again.
