I think it only fair, then, to press for the removal of Lincoln's monument from D.C.. If it is racism the that bothers them then let's just see what Lincoln himself thought of the African race.

"There is a natural disgust in the minds of nearly all white people to the idea of indiscriminate amalgamation of the white and black races ... A separation of the races is the only perfect preventive of amalgamation, but as an immediate separation is impossible, the next best thing is to keep them apart where they are not already together. If white and black people never get together in Kansas, they will never mix blood in Kansas ..."

"I have no purpose directly or indirectly to interfere with the institution of slavery in the states where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so".

"I have no purpose to introduce political and social equality between the white and black races. There is physical difference between the two which, in my judgment, will probably forever forbid their living together upon the footing of perfect equality, and inasmuch as it becomes a necessity that there must be a difference, I, as well as Judge Douglas, am in favor of the race to which I belong having the superior position".

"Our republican system was meant for a homogeneous people. As long as blacks continue to live with the whites they constitute a threat to the national life. Family life may also collapse and the increase of mixed breed bastards may some day challenge the supremacy of the white man".

Abraham Lincoln

Until they agree to remove Yankee monuments they can shut their pie hole.

Be patient, the commies will get around to Lincoln, Washington and the rest once they are done with wiping away the history of the south.

What is the source of the quote? Not disagreeing, just want to know the when and where.

Here's a couple more with citations.

"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races - that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume III, "Fourth Debate with Stephen A. Douglas at Charleston, Illinois" (September 18, 1858), pp. 145-146.

"I have never said anything to the contrary, but I hold that notwithstanding all this, there is no reason in the world why the negro is not entitled to all the natural rights enumerated in the Declaration of Independence, the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I hold that he is as much entitled to these as the white man. I agree with Judge Douglas he is not my equal in many respects---certainly not in color, perhaps not in moral or intellectual endowment. But in the right to eat the bread, without leave of anybody else, which his own hand earns, he is my equal and the equal of Judge Douglas, and the equal of every living man. " The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume III, "First Debate with Stephen A. Douglas at Ottawa, Illinois" (August 21, 1858), p. 16.

It is true that he said things against the "peculiar institution", however he was just a politician and played both sides when it suited his agenda which was to save the Union. Even at the cost of our blood.

I don't even think it was about saving the Union, based on some more modern narratives of Lincon's true character, it was probably more about looking weak and feckless.

No matter how you spin it, this is an attempt to sterilize history to make some people feel better about themselves. History is the story of what happened, no more, no less. Get over it.

For that matter, there are many more landmarks named after Confederate veterans than most people realize, including places like Coit Road in Dallas, Bowman Middle School in Plano, and the A.H. Belo Corp (Dallas Morning News).

They won't have any problem finding some wealthy Socialist to pay for it. Mark Cuban could write a check out of petty cash for this.

Becoming / staying educated and reasoning seem to be super-powers these days. This is spot on from what I see.
No matter how you spin it, this is an attempt to sterilize history to make some people feel better about themselves. History is the story of what happened, no more, no less.
I guess uneducated -- or perhaps wrongly educated -- anarchists and collectivists can't see the irony as they push to remove perceived symbols of human rights abuses. On the other hand, maybe they do see the irony but see the push as part of a greater plan to destabilize society. Either way, a people that forgets its past is doomed to repeat many of the mistakes made previously.

Just a thought, if they want to do away with racism, okay, tear down the statues. BUT also, remove the statues of MLK, Caesar Chavez, Nora Parks, and other dignitaries of other races.

I have never considered myself to be a racist. I have friends of all different races and walks of life. However, this garbage that is going on now could sure push me that way.

I'll be moving North of Dallas. Now I know why I hear about blowing the bridges heading out of Dallas.
