HB 1170 - No Gun or Ammunition Companies in State Holdings

https://capitol.texas.gov/BillLookup/Hi ... ill=HB1170

Prohibits the State from holding any assets related to the manufacture of guns or ammunition in any of the State Retirement Systems.

The state must apply pressure to those companies that do to cease manufacture and if the company does not cease, the state must divest itself of those assets.

Hopefully that one gets buried in a committee never to see the light of day. What nut case introduced this?

Same one that’s been filing anti-firearm bills all day...Anchia.

Beat me to it. What jack wagon thinks this bill has a prayer of passing in Texas?

This is exactly why I did not want to see the Social Security surplus (back when there was one) invested in the stock market. Not only would political considerations have trumped prudent investment strategy, but the volume of money would have induced many companies to alter their behavior to suit social-justice warriors.

As a essential matter of national sovereignty most nations have the ability to produce their own firearms and ammunition. This bill would be corrosive to our state's rights under the US Constitution, but perhaps that's one of the objectives?
