I suppose this qualifies as a cross between a LEO contact and a blooper...

Short course: Extremely low budget movie makers stage a scripted robbery for filming. They didn't tell anyone else (like the police) except for the owners of a bar where they were filming. Someone not-in-the-know saw a masked man holding a gun enter the bar from the street and called the cops. When masked man came out into the street again... well, go read the links.

Reminds me of one of the "Lethal Weapon" movies in which the Mel Gibson character mistakes a movie shoot as a crime in progress.

It was either the third or fourth one. Roger's daughter was in the movie and thought she was in danger.

The best part was how Mel convinced the director to "un-fire" the girl.

I was thinking more of Andy Griffith show. Was the officer named Barney?

Obviously not. He had a bullet in his gun!

Most cities require a city permit to film a movie. Which I think includes hiring police officers.

I would be afraid being an actor having a gun pointed at me by a faux robber on a cheap movie like this.

I believe the requirement to have a permit would be if you are shooting in public - they were shooting on private land and the business was aware/ok with it.

....
Low budget film makers sometimes forego city permits, security, and the like because...well... they have low budgets.

1) that got online FAST
2) why did the actor raise his gun
3) that cop needs more range time!
