I assume we can carry in class unless the Hotel of choice is posted, is this correct, how about the range, I carry my 23 but will shoot my 17. I would like to keep my gun bag with me

Good questions -- I'd like to know, too. The reviews for the St. Michaels hotel are so horrid, I suspect they are using the class as free armed security for the hotel...:

OK, I placed a call to DPS about this the nice lady I spoke to said "If you have a license you probably can. But, you need to talk to the trainers." She referred me to the training section and I left a message as soon as I hear back from them I'll post their answer.

Yeah but, rules is rules, and arrested is arrested. If you ain't willing to play by the rules then get out of the game.

I'd imagine if they don't want us carrying, that will be covered very early on the first day of class. I would have also expected something in the packet they sent out.

Last time I was in class , they told us on the first day before first break if we had anything on us to take it back to the car. They said that was all notification we needed.

Lets see, if rules are rules, and they're a government agency, then they can't 30.06 post (unless they consider it a "government meeting"). Of course, the hotel could post. So who's not playing by the rules??? :evil2:

I was just suggesting "Don't ask, Don't tell, Concealed is Concealed".

I took this up with one of the DPS instructors there, because I don't see how they can legally restrict it. I politely and non-confrontationally asked him during one of the breaks (privately), specifically pointing out the inability of a government entity to restrict carrying. I also asked if verbal notice (as given) was valid from a government entity. Thankfully, he was able to avoid providing an answer because there was one other man taking the class, who knew it all. He went on a ten minute tirade explaining to me that they could "do whatever they want." Then the break ended. I took from the instructor's reaction that they really weren't able to, but he'd prefer not to answer and let the "expert" provide me with an answer and I didn't pursue it any further. DPS would chooses which questions they'd like to answer during the course, as well as which they'd like to defer to your personal attorney.

So, you had a goomba who thinks the govt. can do "whatever it wants", and the DPS that refers all "tough" questions to your lawyer...

I can see that this should be an "interesting" class. :banghead:
