School Safety Certification - Ammo Requirements as of 1-12-17

Postby troglodyte » Wed Jan 11, 2017 4:31 pm

I decided to start a new thread so the info would be easier to find.

Background from old thread:

RSD sent out class information but the ammo requirements didn't match up with the qualifications listed or what Charles had experienced in the pilot class.

New information

Mr. Allen at the RSD contacted Sgt. Bamsch on our behalf regarding how much ammo to bring. Mr. Allen relayed the following:

Bring 50 rounds for the pre-qualification and "about" 120 rounds for the training qualifications. (These are minimums for each gun, revolver and semi-auto.)

This matches up with what Charles told us. 200 rounds for each firearm should be sufficient. It wouldn't hurt to bring a few extra rounds just in case.

I always bring 50-100% more ammo than a class requires. You can always bring it back home with you, but kind of difficult to shoot it if you don't have it.

Just received a reminder email for the SSC instructors class.

They are now saying to bring 220 rounds of ammo (for each gun).

Interesting. I wonder if that means 50 to qual in, 50 in case a reshoot is required, and 120 to qual out.....thus 220. :???:

I'm just gonna bring a bunch.....
