Instructor Power Point

#1

Post by RossA »

Since there have been new laws in the past year or so (and maybe new ones coming this year), I want to look at new power points or other presentations for my classes. Not too computer savvy, so I won't be making my own.
Any good resources?

The course outline revised 12/2015 helped me get my presentation organized, and I tweaked it from there. That will make sure you've got all the current changes.

I know that there is a new outline, but I was hoping for a professionally prepared power point in easy to read slides, etc.
Maybe some graphics for illustration and so on.

That is not going to be provided by DPS and would be some other instructor's hard work, I doubt most would be willing to just send it to you. I'm in the process of making mine and I've got a good 12-15 hours into it already.

There's some CHL Instructor's organization that sells one, forget the name. Have never seen it so can't comment. I'm sure somebody here has.

You can use PowerPoint for free online. It's no more difficult to use than any word processing program, or forum.

I'm hesitant to name names (not sure about forum rules around that) but the big, well known organization that sells course materials at the Instructor's Training classes puts out some great stuff IMO.

The most recent version (2015) was a MAJOR improvement over the previous version, and the student materials (if you choose to use them) follow the presentation quite nicely.

It's not a perfect slide deck, and I have made significant changes and additions, BUT it's a great starting point.

The price seems steep until you consider the effort to put together a 4 hour presentation and keep it looking "right" and consistent.

I don't expect anyone to give me a power point free, I'm perfectly willing to pay for it.
I know the organization that sells stuff at the instructor's classes. I have tried to contact them through their website and telephone with no success.
