WTB 25-06 dies & components

#1

Post by Boxerrider »

I just picked up a 25-06 and need stuff to make ammo. Let me know if you have any dies, brass, or bullets that are surplus to your needs. I travel between San Saba, Gatesville, and Killeen regularly and may make a special trip somewhere to buy stuff or pay to ship it if you're willing and the deal is right.

Thanks!
Jeff

I have some brass, most shot 1 time. I'm on my second .25-06 (Remington 700 CDL). My first one was a 98 Mauser action, with a heavy barrel. I sold it years ago, along with all the reloading dies. One of those things I regret doing. I liked that caliber so much, that about 10 years ago I bought the Rem. I keep the brass, with the idea that I might get back into reloading again, but the chances of that are pretty slim. Not sure how many empties I have - I'm in Lubbock through Sunday, but I can check when I get back home. Maybe four or five 20 round boxes of empties. If you're interested, I'll make you a really great deal that would be hard to refuse....

You may not be aware of this, but the 25-06 is based off of the 30-06 as is the .270. You can pick up either the 30-06 or .270 brass from the range, trim it to length and run if through a full length sizing die. It will neck the case from .30 or .27 cal to .25 cal. I've never bought 25-06 brass. You shouldn't have to either.

I'm looking forward to playing with this rifle. I have been on the lookout for a good deal on a 243 and came across a good deal on a Marlin XL7 in 25-06 first. It seems like a pretty versatile round. A step up in weight from the 243 on the heavy end while they have some overlap in the 75-100 grain range.
CytochromeC - I don't have any 30-06 or 270 brass. Since I'm going to be buying anyway I figured I might as well start with what I want to end up with. Certainly willing to adapt the others if they come my way. Thanks for the reminder.
N5wmk - Sounds like a great plan if you don't mind mailing them to me. I get as far north as Wichita Falls occasionally but that's quite a bit west of you still. PM me when you get back and we'll work something out.
Thanks!
