First let me say Thank you for this site. It is great.
On the 1911 forum, they have a feature that when you put put your cursor on a subject heading, a little window opens and you can read what the content is without opening the window. I have no idea what this feature is calledbut is there a way to do this here also? Its no big deal if you cant. I just kind of got spoiled to it...LOL
Anyway, thanks again.................

Hi Too Tall:

I know the feature you're talking about, but I don't know if it's available on this software. I'm starting a trial tomorrow and I'll be tied up all week. When it's over, I'll touch base with phpbb and see what they have in the way of mods. for this program. I know they are supposed to release a new version that will have several new features, I just don't know when or what features will be involved. I will follow up on it, as well as dws1117's avatar request.

Thanks for the kind words!

Regards,
Chas.

Here is an update on the software. PHPBB is going to release version 3.0 in the not-too-distant future and it will not be backward compatible with earlier versions. A conversion tool will be available to convert the database from 2.x.

Version 3.0 will have several new features, but they have not yet been disclosed. This combined with the fact that all modifications to Versions 2.x will not work on 3.0 means it's not worth the time to try to find, install and debug a modification for the current software. I’ll post updates as they are received.

Regards,
Chas.

Quick Update - Nothing to tell

I wanted to update folks who had requested specific features to be considered for this forum, even though I really don't have anything new to report. PHPBB has not yet released version 3.0, nor have they given any short-term timetable.

To avoid any problem with the conversion when it is released, I'll probably get additional server space and do the testing and debugging on it, before the changeover to 3.0. If all goes as planned, it should be a seamless change to the users.

I'll post another update as soon as I get more information. I just didn't want you folks to think I had forgotten the requests.

Regards,
Chas.
