Police call it self-defense

(11/5/05 - KTRK/STAFFORD, TX) - A confrontation between a Stafford homeowner and a suspected armed robber turned deadly Friday night.

Stafford police say the resident had just pulled into his driveway on Maple Leaf near Emerald Leaf Friday evening when an armed suspect tried to rob him. The homeowner had his own gun. Investigators say he shot and killed the suspect.

Two other suspects sped away from the scene in a small red car. They are still on the run.

Stafford police officers say the homeowner will not be charged because he acted in self-defense.

That's one driveway robber that won't be a repeat offender.

I guess Stafford has changed for the worse. I worked in Stafford from 1988 to 1996 and never saw any graffiti or heard of any violent crime (other than Domestic). Heck, the Meadows Police Dept only had 3-4 old Plymouth patrol cars and the police station was inside the old Meadows Mall.
In the last few years, theres been a lot of gang activity being reported in the area. Not good. :x

We sure have a lot of BGs getting shot lately. You would figure they would get smart by now since the NOLA incident, everyone has been buying guns. lol. I guess not or they wouldn't be robbing people.

It is comforting to have the means to protect yourself if the need arises. One day the criminals may learn, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.
