AR15 30 Round mag source

Post by eureka40 »

It looks like Mako is still shipping 30 rounders for 18.70. These are Israeli mags with a white follower.

• High performance steel body - strong heavy-gauge steel
• Tested by special military forces and anti-terror units
• Fine resistance body coating, enduring up to 96 hours salt-spray test.
This exceeds the military salt-spray test requirements.
• State-of-the-art anti-tilt self-leveling followers in several colors.
• Improved reinforced floorplate.

Have metal magazines always cost that much? I guess I have became use to the PMAGS for $9.95 and they seem to work excellent for me.

I have plenty of 30 rounders and some 20 rounders.

Yeah, that's a bit steep, but I went ahead and ordered 5 more anyway. I use PMAGs almost exclusively, but beggars can't be choosers.

I am glad I ordered 10 PMAGS a little over a week ago and they arrived last Thursday. The special was $89.95 for ten. :thumbs2:

I read this:
LANCER WILL BE CLOSING AT NOON 12/22 FOR THE HOLIDAY. WE WILL PROCESS ORDERS AND INQUIRIES STARTING 1/02/2013.

I hope they still have some complete lowers in. I sent them an email.

Here's more info on these mags:

These are heavy-gauge steel magazines built for the Tavor and also M16 rifles for use by the IDF.
The magazines fit any weapon that can used standard USGI magazines.
The coating exceeds MIL-SPEC salt spray test requirements.
Floorplate is reinforced.
Followers are latest-generation anti-tilt followers with a self-lubricating polymer.
Followers are white for a reason - The Israeli method of fighting involves a chamber check any time the weapon runs dry, there is a malfunction, or the shooter finishes engaging a target - the shooter glances at the ejection port to verify the status of the weapon. This prevents the shooter from moving from one engagement to the next without realizing the rifle is jammed or empty. It also allows the shooter to assess a malfunction to determine the best way to clear it.

Special-ops troops in Israel began painting their followers white in order to be able to more easily see identify the status of the weapon in low light, and to mer easily tell if they were observing a cartridge or the follower in low light.
You don’t see the white follower when the mag is loaded, so it does not matter what color it is until you need to see it through the ejection port, and then white is a big advantage.

I see $20.99 and $30.84 for their newer one. Their lowers are still $209.99 though.

I feel the pain of suddenly paying far more for equipment, but hardware is not nearly as often purchased as ammo.

Ammo gouging, in my opinion is an even worse category of things "gun" to complain about...

Just ordered 10 mags from Lancer...didn't want to get too many as I am not familiar with them...placed the order, then saw this:

There's no :???: about it. That's just unethical. I wouldn't be surprised if that was illegal in some states. That information should be given upfront. Their Terms and Conditions doesn't even mention the cancellation fee. If you point that out, and if they had any brains, they should give you your full money back and not charge you any fees.

This is why I sent them an Email on the receiver and did not just put it on my Credit Card. I didn't want them holding my money waiting on a "back order."
