You guys talked about PacSafe, which is cool, but whats really neat is PacSafe Travel Pack. I use a pack often and this one does it all.

I purchased a DiamondBack 30 gun safe from Frank Zykan about 6 to 9 months ago. I am well pleased. It was dropped off and wheeled around under my car port by a muscular young lady with a pallet jack. I did have to draft my son to help me wrestle the thing into the house, and I did have a little problem making the provided combination work, but Frank talked me throught what turned out to be my problem. Nice guy. http://www.zykansafe.com/diamondgunsafes.html

I'm having a heck of time trying to buy a safe in austin.

I want something in the 72x41x28 or 60x37x28 range. I had an order with sportsman steel. after finding a bunch of unhappy people I cancelled. now I'm Stuck.

Not sure if these qualify as "gun safes" I doubt it, but ... they keep one handy/concealed.

These are just examples of styles of similar products out there. I used to have chairs and couches with flip-up arms (made to store remote controls etc)

if anyone's interested, i have some "connections" on gun safes. i'm a new member, and i figured once i got my post count up, i'd list something up in the classifieds section. i'm looking forward to spending lots of time here so it shouldn't be long before i have my count up!

If anyone is looking for a deal on a winchester or redhead safe (just about any model they make) give me a shout. i'll pass on some info to you. usually about 30-50% off retail! you can pm me or e mail me at daniel.majkowski@gdit.com

PLEASE do some checking on Pentagon and their subsidiary, and reconsider having them on the list!!! I very nearly had dealings with them 6 years ago, and had my CC company not intervened on my behalf, I'd likely have been out $1k!! Google them, and see the stories throughout the country from folks who learned too late!

Ebay has safes made by Steelwater for what seems to be good prices. Does anyone have experience with that brand?

for example: http://cgi.ebay.com/Steelwater-39-Gun-S ... 4cedefa17d

Price for a 32 gun, one hour safe is $1215 with free shipping. Seems like a good deal. I'm sure it doesn't really qualify as a "safe" but not many of the metal boxes out there calling themselves "safes" really do.

Muchas Thank You's.

Costco has the Canon EX20 safe (Costco item # 469584) on sale 3/04/10 - 4/03/10. It's $200 off the regular price delivered. I am considering one given the price.

Hope this is useful to some of you folks.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned a Dakota Safe (http://www.dakotasafe.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). I'm very happy with mine. The best thing is that the safe can be carried into your house in parts, so you don't have a big truck and haulers that say, "I JUST BOUGHT A GUN SAFE!" to your neighbors :)

Can it be bolted down like a traditional safe? Who sells them?
