This one doesn't quite pass the smell test to me.

Yeah, I'm not buying it either.

Who would have a loaded gun in their pocket without a proper holster? Even a pocket holster would keep it in place as he slept. I'm interested to learn what kind it was too. Was it a DA/SA or DAO? Revolver? 1911? Did it have a manual safety? All of these details are missing, and I'm inclined to believe it was just a negligent parent.

As we -have- a 3 month old, and an especially precocious one at that...

Nope. Not buying it, either.

A 3 month old is not going to have the strength or coordination to pull the trigger, unless they got their whole arm in the trigger guard... in which case, it's probably not a pocket pistol, either, so how'd it "fall out" of his pocket?

My guess is Mr. Honor Parent either accidentally shot himself in the face and blamed it on the baby, or is covering for someone else.

3 month old babies have troubled negotiating bottles much less handguns. I'm throwing down the flag on this one.

Article says month. Do you have a link that says years?

The first one. The second link quotes the improbable 3 month age from the blog.

Definitely makes more sense. Still need to charge the man with allowing the toddler to get the gun. It's a shame there is not a chargeable offense of being stupid.

This statement makes it sound more plausible. Even babes are sometimes strong enough to hook on something if you pull directly away from them.
Houston police are investigating the apparent accidental shooting of a man who attempted to grab a gun from a toddler in south Houston.

So the toddler took the safety off? Or you sleep with an unholstered gun in you pants with one in the pipe and no safety or the safety off?
