I had the distinct pleasure today of shooting a Colt 1911 that was made in 1912 according to the serial number. It was a Navy gun and still tight as could be. The barrel showed some wear on the rifling, but other than that this gun was in really good shape for being 105 years old. John Moses Browning created a design that has stood the test of time!
I was in awe, and we talked about what kind of stories could be heard if that gun could talk!

Re: 1912 Colt 1911
I'm sure it was a great experience! I feel the same way about my FN Model 1900.
If I'm not mistaken, it was manufactured in 1907. Still shoot it every once in a while and it has never failed.
I often wonder, if it could talk, the stories it could tell.
