I confess, for a long time I thought the existing lug on the safety that pokes up into the notch in the hammer would prevent the hammer from falling. I acknowledge that was wrong.
The hammer block idea sounds like a good thing. No extra parts, no modification to the trigger, just one more thing to catch the hammer.
Firing pin blocks are good things too, and I'd probably say they are more important than a hammer block.
But if you could have both, why not?

Since it doesn't itself interfere with the gun's operation and can't "fail" on it's own and cause another problem, it's a brilliant design.
It would be great if that were a mod that could be done to an existing safety. (maybe it is, I don't know)
