Man Mistakes Woman for a Deer--Shoots and Kills Her

#1

Post by dlh »

Folks,

We are now into hunting season bigtime. Though the linked incident happened in New York it could easily happen in Texas.

PLEASE identify your target before you pull the trigger!! If you are not sure use your binoculars! If you are still not certain DO NOT SHOOT!

This is especially important as dusk approaches---the shadows start doing funny things to your eyes---from 300 yards away is that a cedar bush...a small calf...a wild hog....?....BE CAREFUL!!

Shooting at 200 yards with a "high powered pistol", after sunset. Thinks a woman walking two labs is a deer?
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

Terrible for the woman's family. One cannot be so careless with a gun.

200 yards hunting with a pistol at night.

Lock him up throw away the keys. Make an example of him.

It's New York so they will give him probation so that even more New Yorkers are enraged about guns.

If you are hunting and can't distinguish something between a person and a deer, and you take a shot, you are one of two things.
Extremely gross negligent or a murderer.
Both of which if you kill someone, you should get a lengthy prison sentence.

Oliver Sacks wrote a book titled: "The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat" which is a far better thing to be mistook for...

Apple has kept this story in the top of the news for 3 days now, each day showing a different news source on the story, even though the story is still exactly the same.

Wonder why?

Terrible thing... always be aware of your target. IDENTIFY IDENTIFY IDENTIFY and if your not sure if it’s a deer or an air balloon don’t shoot! There is ZERO reason that this should have happened. #1 he didn’t have permission to be there, #2 how do you mistake two dogs and a person as a deer? I’ve seen a bunch of people walking labs and not ever did it cross my mind “hmmm is that a deer?” . The only good thing he did was apply pressure to her leg. It sounded to me like she was hit in the femoral artery and bled out. This is also a good example of why we all need basic life support training and I believe if you carry a gun you need the medical supplies to be able to deal with the aftermath. You also never know when your going to be the first responder.

Prayers for the family and all involved.

Hunter Who Killed Woman Walking Her Dogs Charged With Manslaughter
A New York hunter who mistakenly killed a woman who was out walking her dogs is probably feeling as guilt-ridden as anyone ever has right now. He thought he was shooting a deer, and instead killed an innocent woman.

However, now he has other things to worry about in addition to his guilt. He’s been charged with manslaughter, a felony.
