Isn't that why people build .300s?The Annoyed Man wrote:Congrats. You gonna suppress it?

. Absolutely! I need to get the silencerco muzzle brake and install it. So I can use our omega 30. We suppress my dads 300 all the time. His is a spitting image of this one except his I believe his has a 7.5 inch barrel and mines and 8.5The Annoyed Man wrote:Congrats. You gonna suppress it?
I will post a range report when I get out to shoot it. If I can remember I’ll try and post some groupings once I get it zero’d
Thanks to the compliments!

Re: The Finished 300 blackout build!!
Doubht check with the suppressor manufacturer!!! I have a 10.5” SBR in .300 blk that I built, and before I bought the barrel, I called AAC to see if they had any issues with barrel length for my 762-SDN-6 before I spent the money. They told me that anything under 10” would void the warranty on the can. So you might want to make sure you’re good to go.cmgee67 wrote:. Absolutely! That’s excellent advice! I will call and check!!
What are some good hunting rounds in 300? I plan on using SuperSonics. I heard Barnes and Lehigh are some of the best

Hornady has some V-Max loads that are supposed to be pretty good. I haven’t hunted with mine yet, so I don’t really know for sure.cmgee67 wrote:That’s excellent advice! I will call and check!!

Re: The Finished 300 blackout build!!
I've shot a few of hogs with my 300 BLK, although I mostly use my AR-10. I've tried several bullets, all Hornady. I'm settling on their 110 grain SP 'cuz it's cheaper, but I've used 130 grain SP and 110 grain VMAX and they all work. The VMAX are indeed a varmit bullet, but that means they expand at the lower 300 BLK velocities. None of the bullets I've tried have passed through the body of a large (>180 Lb) hog from any angle, and some have required a follow-up shot. It's a little like using a 5.56 in that shot placement is more important. That's why I use the AR-10 more often. I mainly use the Blackout when sitting at a feeder anticipating close range shots at stationary hogs. If I'm stalking a sounder through a field and expecting some running shots I carry the AR-10.

Whoa, just found this. It would seem I've been pretty slack about keeping up with things.Abraham wrote:der Teufel ,

Of course, knee replacement surgery last Fall definitely put me in the slow lane for a few months, but …
Anyway, I've never cooked a whole hog regardless of size. Generally I just take the leg quarters and back straps. I usually debone the hingquarters but unless it's a huge hog I leave the shoulder bone in and throw it on the smoker. With the really small ones (~20-30 Lbs) I sometimes leave the hindquarter intact and grill it like a chicken leg quarter.
I generally just whack the meat off the hindquarters and make it into sausage or ground pork. The ground meat i's really good in things that use a fair amount of seasoning, like tacos, meat loaf, lasagna, chili, etc.

Supersonic will pretty much negate the suppressor. Subsonic is way quieter.cmgee67 wrote:...I plan on using SuperSonics...

It will still be quieter. I’ve shot suppressed 125 grain .300 Blk supersonics from my 10.5” SBR, outdoors without earpro on. It was louder than subsonics, but not even close to painfully loud.couzin wrote:Supersonic will pretty much negate the suppressor.
