Beretta 92x Compact or Centurion

#1

Post by cmgee67 »

I have been eyeballing the new 92x and I’m leaning towards either the compact or the centurion. The compact holds 15 while the centurion holds 17. They both have the same exact slides and barrels. One just has a shorter grip. That being the compact. Those of you that own them what do you think about them? I do intend on carrying it from time to time and I carry appendix so grip length isn’t so much a factor. So that makes me want to lean towards the centurion. Although the compact is shorter and can always take the larger mags if I want it to. Decisions.....

Both are excellent choices.. Is there any way you can get some hands on time with either of them.... My last decision on a carry gun was narrowed down to 3 choices... I got super lucky and my LGS had all 3 in stock.. Sure glad that I handled all of them as I would have picked differently if not....

No. Unfortunately my local GS hardly ever has anything in stock especially during this pandemic.

Can't help. The 92X Performance is challenging my 'don't buy any more handguns this year' pledge.

I wish you hadn't told us about that.

Very very nice! And a safety on frame too.

They tout it as a competition gun but it seems that'd work just fine as a defense pistol too.

The question is: Can you actually find one anywhere? Maybe you can as an FFL. :coolgleamA:

I have found a compact for sale for a good price and I’m so tempted to just buy that one and buy longer mags if I want the extra capacity

I have the beretta 92x compact and its a great pistol if you like the single/double action guns. I have only shot about 350 rounds thru it because of the ammo shortage. The double action first pull is about 4 miles long but smooth as glass. The single action pull is a dream...you just twitch your finger a little and it will fire. I love my Beretta 92x. I think you'll be happy if you can find one. I bought mine from Buds Gun Shop for 564. but they have since sold out.

I made up my mind I think out of the two the compact is what I would rather have. I will just wait It out a little while until places finally start getting stock back it at normal prices. I saw a Glock 43x tonight someone listed for 699. It has gone insane.

I had an M9A1 Compact years ago, but I didn’t like the length of the grip. It just wasn’t short enough to offer enough of a difference in concealment to me over the Centurion I also had. Now I have 2 more Centurions. As much as I like the 92, if I need to conceal I carry something else more compact. I really like the Beretta MiniCougar for that.

Check this page out for a visual comparison between the 92X sizes: https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/ber ... 2x-compact

I've always been a Centurion fan, in fact I carried a 96D Centurion for a long time before selling it on this very forum.

I wouldn't mind a 92X Centurion now.
