Main question, other than the obvious:

What firearm was it?
Was the safety actually on?

It is sometimes a pity that firearms typically don't do anything to enhance the safe practices of their users.

Inaccuracy: "accidentally" kills himself. Anyone pointing a gun to his head and pulling the trigger, especially on a gun which he seems to have known was loaded, has not done anything accidentally. He accidentally overestimated his intelligence.

As the proud owner of two Glocks I admit I laughed when I read this comment. ;-)

Probably didn't feel a thing, or even heard the bang.

Not no more! Seriously I will pray for his family and friends, who are probably devastated by this action.
